This 1 1/4" plastic push-in plug was found in my driveway. I suspect it came from underneath my car. I was pulling in to the driveway when I heard a slight sound from underneath the car. When I drive highway speed, I heard a faint slapping noise. I went on line and looked at schematic drawings and was unable to locate it. Car is a 2014 CX-5 GT. Can anyone help me find where this plug goes

It secures one of the plastic aero panels to the underside of the chassis. My guess, because of its size and design, is the front end just under the bumper valance.

That was a good attempt, but I looked all under the bumper and I found no unfilled holes and all the panels seem secured. The plastic plugs holding up the panels are a bit less than half the size as well and are not completely round. I wish I could get under my vehicle to better search. I don't want to buy equipment to do so just to replace a plug. Any other ideas?

That looks like a trim fastener. If it didn't fall off the outside, it could have come off the interior somewhere and then fallen out. Check the wheel wells, too.

Well given that you hear a faint flapping sound at speed, I would look for a panel that appears to be a little loose and would allow air flow to get under it. Try parking the vehicle with the wheels at the edge of a slope so that you have better access to the underside.

Doesn't look like the push tabs that are used on outside trim. Doesn't really look like it came off this car at all.. if it did it's most likely from inside.

At first it looks like the the fastener used to pin down carpet BUT it isn't. It appears there's a slot in the middle for a flat head screwdriver?

No slot for a screwdriver. It is excess plastic from the mold not trimmed closely.
Maybe it didn't come from my car, but I think it did.
The rear under-body trip nearest the front of the driver tire does seem like it should have another fastener, but this goes no where there.

Good try madar, but this is made of hard plastic and I still have the two rubber octagon shaped rubber posts installed, or I couldn't figure out if you meant something else.

Look inside your wheel wells.

Sent from the wrong side of the tracks.

Am I the only sick person who is tempted to keep odd little parts like this around for when I see a nice car? A few thrown under it could ruin the day of a perceptive owner!

It'd be a lot worse if you poured a little oil under it.....

Fuel and ATF scares people more.

..green colored water...

I work with a guy who is a hypochondriac with his car, always imagining something going wrong with it. It’s a 20005 Hyundai so maybe he has good cause. The guys are always pulling stunts. They usually let it go until he pulls out his phone ready to call the garage.
