Returning home with his father after a shopping expedition, Wong Fei-Hong is unwittingly caught up in the battle between foreigners who wish to export ancient Chinese artifacts and loyalists who don't want the pieces to leave the country. Fei-Hong has learned a style of fighting called "Drunken Boxing", which makes him a dangerous person to cross. Unfortunately, his father is opposed to his engaging in any kind of fighting, let alone drunken boxing. Consequently, Fei-Hong not only has to fight against the foreigners, but he must overcome his father's antagonism as well.

I dont think you can really ever say there is a best because some movies have will always have stronger points than the next where other shine in different areas. Action wise jet li's fist of legend is great and is a key mark for many action martial arts films now. I agree fearless was a wonderful movie, great action scenes and a wonderful story.

Ill take Iron Monkey - another movie directed by Yuen Woo Ping.
Highly recommended goes to Ong Bak for a new raw approach to martial arts movies.

In all honesty it just boils down to ones own opinion. I like the arrival of Tony Jaa and his take on martial arts movies. But I would have to say that my favorite martial arts movie is still "Enter the Dragon."

Yea,Bruce Lee will always be #1 IMO!

I thought Unleashed was excellent. I thought it was awesome how they were able to weave his less than stellar English skills into the story.

Does anyone like Akira Kurosawa films, like Ran or Seven Samurai?

I've been diggin more Japanese films lately than the Hong Kong/Chinese diet.

have you ever seen Shinobi, not really a crazy martial arts movie but its a great movie IMO

A friend turned me on to Kurosawa a few years back. A truly amazing storyteller. All of his films are great.
Yojimbo is my favorite.

kurosawa films are totally worth every second. watched sanjuro last summer, good film (same character from yojimbo), really good.

oh and fearless reeked along with jet li

I liked fearless. I enjoy movies that include some sort of moral, wether based on true events or not. Hero was another great one.
I also love the the occasional martial arts films coming out Japan and China, subtitles and all.

so some friends and I just watched fearless for another time and noticed something. It could actually be a prequel to "Fist of Legend". The master is killed by poison while fighting Tanaka, The student that asks for permission to take revenge is the name used in Fist of legend, And of Course the Name of the school which and Jingwu.

7 samurai FTW...

Also, best marial arts movie is very broad,,, what about Karate Kid, the matrix trilogy, bloodsport, shoaulin soccer, kill bill, the original Drunken Master, zatoichi, enter the dragon, streetfighter, or all those crazy anime martial arts movies out there...

Best martial arts movie is way to broad,, I would give Fearless one of the best martial arts epics, but not the best martial arts movie of all time.

IMHO

cable and timba are correct. bruce lee made fist of fury (which jet li remade as fist of legend). the character and story of fist of fury is fictional and is loosely based on the events surrounding the death of Huo Yuanjia.
