Fast is Stock MP3?

Hey, I was thinking about purchasing this used 2001 MP3, it has 85k miles but the guy only wants 7 grand.. So I was wondering if it was a good deal, lets say if it's in good condition and how fast will it be?

I think the title should be changed to Stock MP3 is Fast? Ha ha, j/j (outie) I'm pretty sure you can search some 1/4 mile times, and it also will vary to what your definition of "fast" is and compared to what.

Well I searched it at dragtimes but it was nonstock cars, but do you think it's a good investment for 7k into a MP3 with 85k miles?

MP3 is not any faster than a stock ES, which is quite slow. the advantage to the MP3 is the suspension.

What would you say is the best kind of Mazda I could get for 10k? In the long run I really need reliability but speed is a plus, I only need a quick car, not a fast car also.

Barely any cars other than those like American Classic muscle cars should be considered an "investment."

You will not make money with a car, a car is used for transportation and enjoyment. I don't understand why people always call them investments...

Anywho.

7 sounds like a good deal if the car is in good shape. I paid 14 in 2003 for mine, which was a little high, but the car was mint and is pretty close to this day, and its by far my favorite car I've ever had and driven.

Which has included: Audi, BMW, All the domestics, etc..

Its not the quickest car around, by for me no car is more fun to drive yet.

Good luck and have fun with it!

And it's not like i'm going to be going up against GTI's or WRxs, I just need a car to drive around for college and occasionally smoke a Civic or something, you know what I mean?

So.... how much of a difference does 10 hp make?

Like a 7.5% increase!!

But back on topic, if the cars in good shape, get it. A lot of aftermarket stuff to put on it. All Proteges are fun to drive, and you stand out from the hondas. :)

Sorry... butting in again, but i def. agree on this one, the MP3 will stand out, and is def. very good looking!!

looks nice, and it has the protege5 headlights on it - i would go check it out before you commit. check to see if the stock radio is still there, including the subwoofer. (mp3 came with a tube subwoofer mounted in the trunk)

Only thing that makes me question, is the silver mirrors? Whats up with that!?

Talk em down, get it closer to 6, run a carfax, take it to a mechanic you trust to make sure its in good running condition.
