Yes I have one
Stopped to get some grub on the way home from work. When I came out there was an Acme shopping cart sitting right next to my car. I started to think the worst. I go over to the car and there is a tennis ball sized dent on my front fender. Not just a dent but a crease. This cart must have been hauling ass from the wind. I wasn't even in the Acme parking lot and I was parked away from any other cars. I was in the next parking lot up and the Acme lot is about the size of a Wal-Mart lot. Quite a way to travel. Bad thing parking away from other cars this time. I was a wide open target. Trying to prevent s*** like this from happening to me or anyone else is why I have got into several verbal arguments with lazy people getting into their cars w/o taking their carts back up to the store or at least the cart corral. I ******* hate lazy people!!!!!

interesting, i work at a grocery store and i have never (knock on wood) had a cart hit my car

but it happens, i have had to chase carts movin pretty damn fast down the parking lot

and i have seen some damage done by carts, and i donno about the store, but we have some kinda insurance so if your car gets hit, the store pays for the repairs (or something, there is some form and they go take pics etc)

same with the place i work at. You just have to prove it was the cart. Also some places like wal-mart have video cameras monitoring the parking lot.

Yeah I walked all the way over there and they filed a report. The manager wasn't in so the person in charge had to do it. Bad thing is the dent doesn't match exactly where the cart would have hit straight on. It must have lifted in the rear when it hit. I have a feeling they are gonna try to fight me on it.

Gonna make a call to the town PD to see if they know if there is any surveillance cameras anywhere in the lots. I didn't take notice. Would help to have video proof if they try to screw me.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Hope you can get if fixed and get over this piss off.

I've had two incidents at Wal-Mart. With a first car a cart broke my headlight. And now with my MSP theres a really deep scratch on the rear right side of my car. Do an incident report with the store they might do something about it.

if it was an Acme cart, they most definately will fight you on it. I know at the store i'm at (Acme) we have signs on the cart corrals basically saying to use them (the corrals) to avoid damage, basically covering their asses--"you've been forewarned" that it could happen, more or less park at your own risk. very few occasions where we actually paid for a repair. But alot of that is up to the manager. But, if you weren't technically in their lot, good luck.
Anyway, sorry to hear about the damage.

Well I went and talked to the manager last Saturday. He was really cool about it. Took a few pics and told me to get two estimates. Then they will assign an adjuster. That was alot easier than I thought it would be. I almost expected a battle.

For anyone who has it happen at a Wal-Mart. If you act apropriately and speak to the store manager first they will take care of you. If that doesn't work ask to speak to the district manager, that usually makes them cringe and take care of you. Wal-Mart has always been scared about losing customers. The best is always calling 1-800-wal-mart. You will more than likely get a phone call from the store manager in one day. Just make sure that the damage is shown to management and a report is done before you leave. I work for Wal-Mart and you would be surprised at much we bend over backwards for nice customers with problems. Its the b****y ones that don't get far.
