fan use without a/c on?

I have 2 questions concerning the auto climate control:

1. is it possible to turn on the A/c system without auto climate control? if yes, what indicates that state? i only see the auto climate light?


2. is it possible to turn on the fan without a/c on?

Fan without AC - turn system on and hit the AC button - that will turn the AC off but leave the vent on.

I don't understand the other question.

Oh - I don't use auto climate control by just setting the temp and using the fan speed up and down which turns auto climate off.

Auto climate - the car controls the fan and temp.

Same here. I don't use Auto Mode on Dual-zone Automatic Climate Control. I use "manual" mode to set AC on and off, temperature, fan speed, and air direction mode.

thanks! at times, when i thought the ac is off, but the vent is blowing cold air! so is there a definitive indication that the ac is on or off? (when auto climate is off) with my other cars, i always know the ac is on or off easily.

If the amber light is off in the lower center of the left knob, you are in "manual" mode. Changing the fan speed or airflow mode will always take you into the manual mode.

Yes. In the LCD display, between the two temp displays, right above the fan speed indicator, there is an A/C status indicator.

wow thank you for all the replies! I just went to the garage to try it and you guys are right! although i think the AC indication should be more obvious. I did not realize that the AC button is a toggle switch that can be used to both turn on and off the AC. I was using the OFF switch to turn off the AC, which turn off both the AC an fan - so i was not able to get fan only operation. Anyway thanks again!

I agree! AC on indicator icon should be larger or using different color. And AC toggle switch seems against design logic with other automatic climate control buttons. I'm not surprised some people would get confused!

Agreed.

One other point about the A/C that might surprise some people is that it will automatically be on in both the windshield defog mode AND the windshield defog plus floor vent mode. The A/C indicator will not be visible in these modes, but it will be on.
