Fair price, and what to do with a damaged MS3

Hi Folks,

2007 MS3. 90k miles. Purchased in 2012, with 50k miles.

So I haven't been on here in a while. My MS3's turbo blew a while back, and I got a Miata. I love that miata. But, this MS3 was my first car after college, and when the turbo blew, I didn't have the funds or location to change out the turbo. But I do have a replacement turbo. Problem has been space almost more than anything. I got the whole engine harness off, entire intake, battery, etc, everything to get to the turbo. Once I got to it, I confirmed it definitely went with play in the turbo wheel. I live in an apartment, and haven't had the space to replace it, I can't leave it up in my apartment complex, so every day if I work on it, at end of day everything has to get packaged up.

Anyway. I loved this car. I still do. So here's where I'm at:

Turbo is definitely damaged, and not yet replaced.
I assume entire exhaust needs to be replaced, or at least cleaned and cats replaced. (is this a fair assumption?)
Everything needs to go back together, mostly the engine harness, battery, intake, etc.

After that, I'm not sure what else is required. It could have other issues, but I haven't started it in a year. I'm now considering my options. Only offer I've received is 2500, from someone who would part it.

If I sell it, what's a fair price, as is?
Would anyone buy it, as is?

Thanks,

Max

Well, eight years old and needing $3K in repairs, dealer retail is $5,700. That would sound like $2,700 assuming everything else is OK. IMO, take the $2,500 and call it a day.

I'm considering taking a week or two off this summer with a friend to get it up and running. I found a lot of oil in the exhaust which makes me think the cat needs replacing. So much oil I could find it in the end of the exhaust. If I want it fully repaired, am I looking at pulling the engine? Gonna do some research on what other things I can expect with a blown turbo.
