Failed piston ring?

That nipple has a hose about 6" connected to it that goes to somewhere up top, but I can't remember where... but I knew exactly what nipple you were talking about as soon as you said "under the manifold" because we forgot about it once too :)
Well, there's two under the mani. There's a big one in the center under the mani, and then there's a smaller one KIND of under the mani...off to the passenger side, right near the VICS.

The MAP sensor is located just near the firewall above the passenger side strut tower.
I think I know which one you're talking about. Going out to check...

Ok, i hooked a line up to that MAP sensor, and I'm not getting the CEL code yet. But just to make sure I hooked it up right, can someone post a pic of stock vacuum lines running to the stock MAP?

yeah, that second one with nothing hooked up- its like that in every MP3

its not utilized, but then why even have the solenoid there? LOL what a waste of money.
So MP3 owners can sell them to all the poor bastards that manage to break them periodically ;)

I was referring to the one on the passenger side "kind" of under the mani... The one under the mani I believe goes into the dynamic chamber... has one of the check valves on it? or am I still thinking of the wrong one?

Not sure really, but it's a big fat one.

looking good, I like the new mani. do you still have a external WG? if so pics of where it is located on that mani.

is that the same turbo?

Woohoo Dana! Congrats on your babeyyy!!!! How many oil changes did you go through already? (rofl) (peep) Wanna hang out this weekend?

No, I had to move to an internal WG.

Yeah, it's the same turbo

Well, many people would consider "taking a step backwards" as you put it because they can't get the MPI to work the way they wanted to under your instruction. Regardless of whether it's their own fault or not, MAP is a much easier way to tune. Everyone I know who has switched to an MPI + MAP setup has been much happier than they previously were.

@ idgrasil - I'm not saying the stock MAP WON'T work, but I doubt it has a high enough range (in bar) to be useful.

Easier yes, not necessarily the better way to tune!

There are certain aspects of MAP that are better, but some that are worse. Better accuracy as to what is actually in the manifold for pressure (For example when the BOV kicks out, but yes that can be corrected with recirculation MAF placement etc), slightly better response time to WOT pump changes, and a few others. Once I had my car fully dialed in tuned via MAP with the full complement of modifiers to get the density right it ran smoother and nicer during driving than a stock MSP (but that's not saying too much ;) ).

They both have pluses and minuses in MY opinion. I like the ease of MAP, but MAF certainly is the technically more accurate for measuring air.

If you want difficult tuning, go do a full tune by TPS vs rpm :). That'll drive you batty :).

And there you have it. They have a problem, do not know what it is and then try to tune around it. So what you are saying is they can live with the problem better with a MAP, if they do not want to fix there car right. That sound like a great idea for getting the most out of a car.

Get off of your high horse and look at the people who are doing it right. They have fixed the problems with their car and the MPI works great. If some of you guys do not, cannot, or will not fix the s*** right I do not care. Run it anyway you like. All I know is that you will never get the most out of the system and the car that way.
