Factory HU CD--No Sound?

:wtf: I wired an Alpine amp to my factory HU. After I plugged the HU back into the system, my radio works fine, but I don't get any sound when I play a CD. The display shows the track and time elapsed as if it's working fine. Is the CD player broken or did I miswire something?

Also, I am running the factory speakers until I can find the time to install Infinity Kappa 6.5 components up front. However, I get loud pops and distortion on the right side speakers, even when I adjust the balance to full-left. This problem comes and goes. What's causing it?

exactly which amp is it? ... does it have speaker level inputs....or did you use LOC's and run RCA's? ....

did you run your power for the amp and the speakers together or apart from one another?

you see.....I have the stock headunit...and have an alpine Vpower 5 channel amp in my system....and have ZERO problems....no noise...no popping....just jammin tunes.

btw....hi MD P5 AND Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. (stash)

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!! (stash)

Problem 1:
Typicaly if you have an amp hooked up and you can get teh radio to play but not a CD then you hooked the remote turn on wire for the amp up to the power antenna lead and not the ignition power wire behind the radio.

Problem 2:
My guess on the speakers is the RCA connections or the speaker level connetions are either ground o shorting out. Either way someithing in the input circuit is messed up and hopefully its not the amp.
I need the amps model number and exactly how you hooked signal up to it from the deck to be able to help out more.

Problem 1: 1st MP3 in NH, you're right, I did hook the remote turn-on for the amp to the power antenna lead. I'll rewire it to the ignition power wire behind the radio. How will I know the correct wire?

Problem 2: I have last year's Alpine V-Power 200 4-way amp. I ran the power from the battery down the right side and the speaker wire down the center console. I found a hole in the metal under the front part of the passenger seat to attach the ground for the amp. I didn't scrape off the paint, so maybe I'm not getting a good ground?

Another question. Since I ran speaker wire out of the factory HU to the amp, I have the open RCA ins on the amp. Can I hook a portable MP3 player into these inputs? Wouldn't this work as long as I don't play the HU and MP3 player at the same time?

I want MP3, but would rather not get a new HU. But if I have to, I think I'll go with the Alpine 9807 on sale for $250 at Tweeter this week. 1st, how do you feel this Alpine compares with the Eclipse MP3's you sell at Tweeter?

Finally, where do you recommend attaching the crossover for front door components?

Thanks for the help--the check's in the mail. Sir Nuke, I appreciate the hospitality and I'll replace the beverages I drink while I'm here.

Pin 10: Pink / Black - Switched power, coonect to red wire in aftermarket harness.

You may not be getting a good ground. Scrape the piant and make sure the ground is to the floor of the car not a secondary peice of metal. Also since you ran speaker level inputs Make sure none have scraped bare and are toucking ground or are hooked up wrong.

Never even thought ot this, but seems possible so long as the radio is off. Since you are goiung to rewire to the ignition lead the amp will stay on as long as the car is so this might work.

Alpines seem to handle different bit rates, especialy over 128 better then Eclipse as eclipse only says it does up to 128mbps. After that its a crap shot if it will work. The other side of it is eclipse has probabl;y the best CD-R playback ability. The Kenwoods have the worst! Alpines are ok but some recordings may skip.

Between the amp and the speakers :D!
The crossover will have to be located in the door unless the tweeter for the component is going in the pillar.
