Factory Alarm

Thank You for such a warm welcoming.

Ok, the factory alarm is going off like crazy, is there anyway I can set the sensitive of the alarm myself? I went to the Mazda dealer and they told me to come back on Tuesday. I can wait that long but dont know if my neighbors can, they already told me that the car was going off all day long yesterday. Thanks for any advice.

I don't have an alarm, but I recall someone saying the controls for the alarm are located on teh bottom of the steering wheel column. If you're desperate to remedy the problem, maybe you can go take a look now.

Robb,

I had the exact same problem with the alarm on my P5. Consensus is that they are all set to the most sensitive setting at the factory. So they go off a lot - high wind, loud car going by, etc.

The control box is mounted by the left driver's side kick panel just above the fuse box. It is black and a little larger than a deck of cards. It should say "Mazda vehicle security system" or something similar on it. I believe the setting is a little dial along the side of this box.

Alternatively there is another solution if you cannot find it and are not concerned about not setting the alarm for a few days. When you exit the car push the "lock" button on the driver's door when it is open as you are exiting the car. This will lock all the doors on the car without setting the alarm. Your neighbors will thank you. Hope this helps. :)

the BOX is under the dash near the steering column and it MAY have a sticker on it that says "code alert" as that is who makes the system. the BOX you are looking for s slightly smaller than a deck of cards....there is a little gray or white knob sticking out of the side of it....that is how you adjust the sensitivity of the system. turn the knob counterclockwise to DE-sensitise the system.

I have seen the light! SirNuke you were right on the money once again. I was looking at the wrong black box. <insert lame joke here>. The one I had seen above the fuse box on the left kick panel must be a master for the entire security system.

The one with the sensitivity setting on it is exactly where you said. It was mounted up high and just to the left of the steering column. It is maybe 2-3 times as big as the black remote keyless entry key fob that comes with our cars. Once I found the right one I also easily found the gray/white knob and was able to adjust the sensitivity. Thanks again NukeMan. You da Man. :D

you are more than welcome....you see, I too have the factory alarm...and had to reset it...as the slightest touch would set it off. I have a "california duster" to clean the dust off the car in the garage and all I would have to do is start to dust off the car and the stupid thing would go off...OR have a nice thunder storm come through....the darn thing would never go off....so.....there ya go. :{D

Thanks Guys

I found the little knob and turned it down a notch or two. I made so that it only gives a warning beep and only if you try to enter the car the alarm goes off.

are SURE you have one? why I ask is because some people think that just because they have a keyless remote that they have an alarm....and the two are mutually exclusive....if you do NOT have the little flashing LED in front of the steering wheel you DON'T have an alarm.

just thought I would mention that.

I had the exact same experience with my Alarm

My alarm is so sensitive, it beeps every second, and goes off for no reason at all. it's very annoying.
