wait a minute if the fe3 has the same pattern as the fsde, and people already make adaptor plates for FE3 to the TOYOTA E-153, then that means FSDE guys can run one of the toughest FWD transmissions around for next to nothing as a Toyota E-153 costs around $500 and wont break. only bad part is that you would still need toyota axles, wider wheelbase, shifter and cables etc. its a whole drivetrain conversion.
only difference it costs next to nothing compared to building the FSDE trans which we all know is very expensive and will just keep breaking over and over. Not to mention changing the fluid on the PAR gears every oil changes lol
oh man, I would be sooooo pissed if I just paid to have a built fsde trans lol
maybe its time to forget 2.2t transmission swaps and get on the E153 bandwagon
for the e153 you need
FWD E153 Trans
wider wheelbase. I believe you can use MX3 Lower Control arms or 1st gen control arms with rx7 balljoints.
shifter
cables for shifter
hybrid axles (MR2 and celica all trac)
custom engine mounts
LSD if you like spinning both wheels or accelerating while turning.
the adaptor plate that mates FE3 to E153 (or in this case FSDE to E153)
Slim fan
nowhere near plug and play but if you have the proper tools and time to do the work its Not too bad considering it wont break. Im sure someone could also find out how the issue with the flywheel/clutch would be sorted as there is a chance the combo used would be different than the bp to e153 combo. there are guys running them. just interweb stalk them until they give you the info.
here is a how to for the e153 to a Escort GT (same as 1st gen protege)

it would be very similar except you would be using the fsde with adaptor to e153 instead of the bp with adaptor to e153.
there are a few guys with the plates e153 to fe3. just send them $10 for a outline of the adaptor plate. I think there is also a guy doing a possible group buy on e153 to fe3 plates.
thats enough typing for today
