**** you for my dealer

Who will remain nameless. At least for now. If you know me please don't name the dealer. I already typed the long version of this story and got a memory error when I tried to submit. So now the short version.

I bought a new MSP 2 months ago and noticed a bubble in the paint not long after purchase. I showed the dealer and they agreed to fix it. They told me to get an estimate. I wated about a month to get the estimate. The guy at the body shop tells me that the rear bumper, 1/4 panel and one rear door have been repainted. So the cars been in some sort of accident. Most likely minor but still. So the dealer has me come in to get the GM to look at the car. He tells me they have no record of the car being repaired. He also says that there's no way the car left his lot in that condition. So he sorta accuses me of getting a bad paint job after I had the car. The only reason I haven't contacted my lawyer yet is cause they are looking to see if something happened at the port. They're gonna **** me I know. When they finally do I will be more than happy to provide their name to you guys and to Mazda NA. Wish me luck.

Yeah that's the really funny thing. Their body shop is the one that helped me build a case against the dealer.

When Lisa got her car from the other location, it had a small scratch on it, and they had "their guy" come and "touch it up". I think he's like a mobile dent guy, it wasn't the best job, but it's way low just in front of the door, so it was ok. I wonder if that's what happened, so maybe there's no record of it going to a shop. Also, how many miles did it have when you bought it?

It had right around a 100 miles on it. BUt I know it went to HIN. Cause I found flyers in the trunk.

awwww man, they're just trying to cover their asses, give'em hell. The only real contact I have there is my salesman at the other location, he was very helpful though. See how much luck you have going up the food chain, and if you don't I'll give him a ring. Also, Topher may know some peeps, too.

When i bought my msp there was a guy there picking up a new protege, cause the onle he bought back in PA had been in an accident before he bought it. He brought it somewhere to get worked on and the guy noticed pain on the door trim. He said lawyers basically told him he'd spend more in lawyer fees then they could win him. The best you can really hope for is a replacement car, which you probably wouldn't want anyway, cause no more mazdaspeeds. So probably fixed paint is the best you'll do.

I just went through this with the dealer I bought my 8k mile used MSP from. The salesman promised it had not had "any paintwork", but it had, and I didn't realize it till I drove it back to TN from MO. I got reasonable satisfaction out of them, and they paid to have the paint properly matched. There is a lot of work that gets done for dealers that doesn't go on the books. The custom paint shop that is redoing the dealer work told me what the dealers are up to with the paint repairs. They don't want it to go on the Carfax report. Feel free to PM me and I'll help you out if I can.

I found out after I bought my car that it had a new hood and a full front paint job done to it. They never said a word to me about it. Mazda USA had no record and when they contacted my dealership they were told it was damaged in transit. But the werid thing is ,the dealership didn't do the work to fix it, they outsourced it to a paint shop in a different town. I don't understand it ,but I was told like Jesse's friend that it would be more hassle to sue then to just let it be.

to be honest, it doen't matter who did the work whether it was an excellent job or not.

your dealer sold you a "NEW" car that wasn't new.
if they sold it to you without telling you then they is defrauded you esp if they tried to cover it up.
contact your better business bureau and at least let them know about your situation maybe even an action news station (investigative reporters) in your are.

even if you don't get any money out of it at least you can tarnish thier reputation or have them get fined. anything you do is better than nothing.

good luck and keep us posted

**** them up the ass dood. IT was wrecked before you bought it. this is not the forst case like this, and its BS, I would call Mazda NA First thing tomorrow, and start the ball rolling there, because this dealer will ram it up yours, if you dont go above them. :D

Sounds like all the BS with my Mustang- ftp://ftp.joepmbc.com/public_html/healey1.htm .. I had other issues also and Ford basically said "sorry, your problem now" and the dealer is full of s***. I got so frustrated, I gave up and am dealing with the paint shop directly. I will tell you it is the last time I EVER buy a Ford and will never buy from that dealer chain again, they are fraudulent scumbags. Good luck, I hope you have better luck than I did. I just couldn't afford all the legal fees, otherwise I would have just let a lawyer handle it.
Joe

If they don't fix it let ProMazda know. We will see what a caravan of Mazdas in their parking lot do to change their mind.

So this is what the memory error was about.. hmm.. The only feelings I get about the dealers are bad ones. Why can't the dealers atleast serve their very own customers for once? Just like Boostisgood said, call Mazda NA. With my family's Ford conversion van there were multiple problems that the dealer wouldn't fix (stereo still buzzes, sealent leak above windsheild so that every time we pull out of our driveway water falls in your lap). The dealer said that the problems were the conversion company's and the conversion company said it was the dealers so the problems never got solved.

The thing that sucks is it's a my word against theirs thing now. First thing Monday MazdaNA is getting a call from me. It still really urks me that my family and I are loyal to this dealer and they still are trying to **** me. This is my 2nd car from this dealer and my brother bought his RX-7 there. I mean if I had put my car in the body shop and the work had been bad wouldn't I be taking it back to that body shop?

Someone said something about legal fees being an issue. My lawyer is better known as my brother. So that's not really an issue.

Does someone know exactly how carfax works? Is a body shop required to provide info if a car has body work done? I don't know if I mentioned it but I already ran a carfax on it and there were no entries about accidents.

Didn't have time to read entire thread but...

Someone else here went through the same thing.....was a titanium speed as well. CAn't remember who...girl I think. Ended up that she called Mazda of USA who looked into it, and it turned out that the dealer had lied about it being repainted it, and then they "all of a sudden remembered" what happened and fix it.

Dig deaper man. You don't need lawyers to get something done all the time

Good luck

Stay on their asses. If a dealership messed with you, chances are, you're not the only one. Definetly talk to a lawyer about this, even if the fees are high ask there's a good chance other people that have done business with this dealership were treated in the same manner and there's a chance of filing a class action. I'm only speaking off the top of my head, but my dad's firm just got through settling a case against numerous SoFla dealerships for "unfair practices" i.e. puppy dogging, over charging and what not. So yah, point is, don't just throw in the towel. You car is one of you biggest investments, don't let some pond scum mess it up.

Speaking of all that stuff, the dealership I'll probably end up getting my MSP from was one of the defendants in the aforementioned suit... Watch them try and pull something slick now...... (laugh)
