Extended Warranty

From what I have heard about extended warranties, they find alot of reasons to deny claims, therefore they are profitable for the warrantor. I think that for the cost of the warranty, you won't spend much over that, if anything on mechanical/electrical/etc failures and/or problems out of pocket. However, if you have AWD, maybe it would save you money over the long run. AWD is expensive to maintain on older vehicles. That AWD American Icon costs Americans big $$$ to maintain the AWD image.

That is true of 3rd party ext warranty.
Not so for genuine factory ext warranty.
Mazda's Total Care ext warranty is the best I have seen. It is no bumper-bumper, but close to.

I had to use the third party warranty and i was surprised that they approved it right away. I guess it is because it was at the dealer. When the service advisor was talking to the rep on the phone he got the approval code from him within 5 minutes. The only thing is that the work has to be done and the documentation faxed over to the warranty company in order to get payment.

I bought my CX-9 from a large multiple brand dealer in PA, and they were eager to sell me the extended warranty from 3rd party. I noticed an error on my sales order, and called about a week later. The financing guy was fired, and the manager told me he sold me an extended warranty for 72 mos and 100,000 miles congruent to my warranty when it expires for $1200. Just keep in mind is it for an extra 100,000 on top of the 36k or up to 100k on the odometer? Im stuck with only 75,000 coverage.

What he sold you is an extension of the original bumper to bumper warranty which will take you to 100k miles and 6 years. I had mine extended for 84 mos and 75k miles and i paid more than you did with the same 100 deductible. You kind of made out better than i did. At least when i used it recently they didn't give the dealer any problems as far as approving the claim which suprised me even more.
