exhaust questions..

so ive been reading bout the different exhausts available for the ms6 for a while, and im still torn between what i want.

originally i was gonna buy the magnaflow because although it doesnt yield much power, i really like the sound of it because i dont want anything droney or too loud.

then i heard an ms6 with the cpe dual setup and it sounded sexy too. my problem is im not very rich lol i dont have a lotta money and the cpe is close to 1000 bucks..i can get the magnaflow for 400..

i guess my questions are:
should i buy the magnaflow due to low price and sound/volume?
should i try to save up and get the cpe and get better performance and good sound/volume?
or should i try to see if i can have a shop make a custom exhaust? im a little concerned about this because although it will be a lot cheaper, is the quality usually the same? can i basically show them the cpe and tell them i want that? and if i take this route, will the sound be close to that of the cpe/magnaflow?

I got the corksport and loved it ever since I put it on. Its 300 dollars cheaper than cp-e and is great quality.

If you're even asking about price, I would suggest the magnaflow for $400

Now, if you're like me, you find a certain sound you love, than you might save up for the cp-e

thanks for the replies guys, uga dogs how loud is the corksport? ive heard the videos and such but u cant really judge based on internet vids. is it similar to either the cpe or magnaflow?

I haven't heard the other two, but it's not that loud. However, there is some drone in the low rpms

Dont buy your catback on expected hp gains. They are too minimal to be worth your time or effort. Just get the one that looks nice and sounds cool. My advice would be corksport. Perfect balance. Magnaflow will get the job done but the inferior quality is obvious in the fitting / finish. Nothing wrong with it . . . just doesnt look as nice imo. Still sounds and performs fine though. I have a GHL which I love. No drone and beautiful sound. Expensive though but you get warranty on it.

i've had my corksport for over a year and i love it, simply wouldn't trade it for any other exhaust. i have a couple video's on youtube if you search my id "bova80" you'll see them. the one lets you see what its like from inside.

+1 on the Corksport. I have it and when another local Speed6'er heard it he had to have one too. I helped him install it as well. Mine is the original version with 80+ inch length mid pipe, but later version mid-pipe comes in two pieces with heavy duty flanges so it will fit in a reasonable sized box for shipping. You'll like it.

yeah my kit is 3 pieces as well. i still need to add my corksport poly urethane hangers i've had sitting around for 5 months.

the stock ones can be a little sloppy. mine clangs around abit on the fake exhaust tips when cornering hard. the upgraded hangers are stiff not allowing movement.

ok u guys are right, i listened to ur vids bova and it does sound really nice and doesnt seem to be too loud. however does it drone while cruising at all? its hard to tell from videos i wish i knew someone that hard each type of exhaust lol

I put a local guy's Corksport on his car and although it sounds great it does drone ... he couldn't stand it and eventually installed a resonator after the main cat.

Another alternative is to just do a custom axle-back - ie. just replace the stock muffler sections. They un-bolt with just 2 bolts on each side and if you ever wanted to put the stock muffler sections back on you could easily do it.

Thats what im going to have done monday morning. The mufflers are going to be taking off and run straight pipes back. I will try to post a vid of what it sounds like.

What you mean? Buy straight pipes and take off stock cats?

The cats have nothing to do with it, just the rear mufflers. Get down and look under the trunk of your car and you'll see what I mean.

The straight pipes are gonna drone to all hell btw ... best bet is to put some 4x9 or 5x8 mufflers back there. Mine were 5x8 Magnaflows on both sides but just last week I put a round bullit type on 1 side only and it's just on the verge of droning so it's as loud as I'd wanna go ... has a nice rumble without the drone.

The thing too is the colder the weather the worst the exhaust sounds imo.

I put Custom on mine 3" straight pipe ..... all the way to the downpipe ( 2nd cat delete with Borla mufflers 2.5". Sounds as good as corksport maybe a little deeper in sound.. its cost me like $450.. Its not SS but if you paint it... my shop did .. it will still last a long time. I think the magnaflow is a good deal for SS .. but most say isnt much louder than stock,, So if loud isnt important id go Magnaflow
