okay. i got a mp3 i just put on a hks short ram intake and i was wondering what exhaust i should run...it's between the greddy sp or hks system. any and all opinions welcome.

mike

hks doesn't make any cat-back systems for the MP3, you were probably looking at the Protege 5 version. I would recommend getting the Racing Beat exhaust or the Greddy SP as you mentioned above assuming you're not turbo'd..

i just did a search, they didnt make a sp2 exhaust for mp3s just msp. my freind got the corksport before. DO NOT use them on the road soooooooo loud. he was running with full exhaust system, header and the corksport, REALLY LOUD! couldnt drive past 2.5 or cops would look... also i was wondering catback exhaust do they replace the cat? or go after the cat? i always thought they replaced the cat...

Yea your right it was the p5. well the cork sport is it really that bad (loud, annoying) or overall a good choice?

I'm curious too... I just bought my intake from corksports... they're about 2 miles down the road from me. I've been looking into an exhaust but keep putting it on hold until I have more info.

yo whats up bro. hey dont get corksport. thier quality isn't the best on the exhausts. if you wanna hear the greddy sp2................well i have that on the mazdaspeed (see pic in sig). would be hilarious to have it on my former car. GREAT sound. great quality. low rumble. actually, before i decided on selling the mp3 i was going to put a magnaflow on there and remove the cats. its a little louder than the racing beat or greddy but sounded pretty good. ill find the clip of it. dont worry about the loudness. i have the greddy on the msp but i also have it dumped so i dont usually have the greddy hooked up. and its damn loud. but the cops have never bothered me about it. theres 3 other mazdaspeeds in houston dumped and none of us have had any problems with it.

im thinking of gettng the injen CAI and the OBX header. what are your thoughts on these and what exhaust would you suggest for them.

obx and an injen would be great. just search for audio clips of different exhausts. its all personal prefference. for n/a i think racingbeat, greddy, and magnaflow are the best options. but thats just my preferrence. everyone has different ones.

thanks for the info man, very helpful ... not to change subjects but does anymore know when protegegarage will be back up? i would really like to visit

i recommend stock mp3 axleback, i love their exhaust sounds really good when u gun it pass 3k. u should get header n new midpipe, that should work pretty good. some company on the forum makes the midpipe i remember reading about it

mental addiction motorsports makes a high flow midpipe. but you can get any muffler shop to make you a strait pipe as an exhaust.

so what would be better for performance/sound just a new midpipe or like a greddy? which would have a better balance.

Sorry, im such a newbie. (late bloomer to the car world)

my mp3 was my bloom to the car world! ok.............basically the idea of the exhaust is to get the air out of your car as fast as possible. for a non turbo mp3 2.25" piping is sufficiant enough to get it out. any larger than that would be pointless since the car is only 2 liter and non turbo. i would try going catless with a larger midpipe first. just make sure if you upgrade to 2.25"+ to have whatever muffler have the same inlet. if your midpipe is 5" big and the inlet on your muffler is still only 2" then you might as well have had a 2" midpipe. the exhaust system can only work as fast as its slowest part.

agreed. i would recommend keeping the stock axleback for sure. n just get header n midpipe. shouldnt be to loud with cops n stuff. but idk, anyone with this setup comment?

sounds good!! BTW glad to hear you got your MSP back man... i know it sucks to be without your ride for too long
