Exhaust Question

I was thinking about getting etdracing's exhaust but i was kind of curious what kind of s pipe to go with. I was thinking about a GHL because they are just badass looking but im not sure if ill need that much flow. im going to hopefully get a fmic and a unichip in addition to this over the summer. i know id have to cut the exhaust and make it fit but if its worth it ill do it but then i saw something about a 2.5" downpipe isnt restrictive on a supra till somewhere about 700hp and i saw MAM is coming about with a 2.5" spipe and the price sounds awesome. i dont know. would i even need the GHL running the 13-10 psi from the unichip? sorry if this doesnt make since but im half asleep. thanks guys.

Exhaust size

Hi all, I am totally new to this forum and driving a humble 1.6L 2001 protege.
I intend to change my stock exhaust. Can anyone advise wats the size best for my car?

Stock
Current header piping size= 1.5"
Current down pipe size= 1.3"

I understand that too big will affect performance instead, so came here to seek advise.

tyrant,welcome,but you just jacked this thread.
don't know what to tell you for options,exept with that motor,you have no reason to waste money on an exhaust.go spend it on dinner for your girl.

cpv0917-if you want a decent exhaust for this amount of boost,then you really have no use for a 3"
stick with the 2.5
if you want options,check out the exhaust sticky,it also has sound clips and pictures.

get the mam bro...cant ever go wrong with mam. i ordered their s+jpipe combo and awaiting delivery

but if i were u, i would go 2.25"...why would u order a downpipe though...do u have a turbo?
