Exhaust dump

Can anyone list the advantage and disadvantages of this?

its going to go out the wheel well and I'm definitely putting a muffler on it.

If anyone was wondering i'm keeping my stock muffler on just for looks..... it would look stupid with just a hole there.

I dunnno..... this option seems a lot better to me fianacially then spending up to 900 dollars for a turbo back system.

Just wanted your opinions

thanks

Not sure what you're asking. . .
dump tube?
new exhaust?

Maybe I have more trouble reading than I thought. :D

I figured this was about the wastegate dump, but now I'm not sure. There are advans and disadvans to how you "plumb" the wastegate, but before listing them, can you clarify what you're looking for?

clarify....no problem

Ok, just imagine a 3" pipe off the the turbo...... bent 90 degrees to the passenger wheel well.... with a muffler ... you wouldn't be able to see it unless u looked really close.

think he wants to put pipes(downpipe?) from the turbo behind his wheel....instead of having to run all the way through the back..eliminating cats and muffler...?

a muffler on it? why do that? it just adds restriction. why not just get a simple exhaust cutout? but in either case, i think you'll lose some torque down low cause you'll have basically 0 backpressure. you should see some hp gains though.

Yeah, I've driven with the exhaust removed from the cat to the axleback. It's fun and "cool" at first, but it gets old very quickly. You will want the noise to be further back than what you're wanting; trust me.

DJB00TS - there's a few problems with just "dumping" the exhaust gasses from the turbo to around the wheel welll for street car:

(1) Totally illegal
(2) The noise will be unbearable on a daily basis
(3) Can you say "HEAT"
(4) On a street car, you'll loose usable power by just letting the gasses get dumped into the atmosphere.

Yeah it would be loud without a muffler, but he said he'd put one on.

I think anything is possible, but I don't know that it would gain you anything.

I thought about doing side pipes and such before I did my dual setup out back. Still need to get the bumper "fixed" to eliminate the single cutout, but it sounds sweet. I LOVE MESSING WITH EXHAUSTS. . .THE SOUNDS!!!!!

Anyway, I say more power to you if that is what you want, but I don't entirely see the point except for a gain in ground clearance that I totally lost with my 3" pipe running back.

If your looking at doing that why not just install a cutout.. The V-8 boys have done it for years.. Quite exhaust on a day to day basis and open the cutout when your feeling froggy !!!
