Not much info on this FMIC kit on this forum, just wanted to share some information.

There's a group buy going on for their FMIC kit right now on another forum. Not so much a group buy maybe, but the first 10 people who get it can get it for $690! He is also offering a 2 week money back guarantee. You'll have to eat the shipping costs, but there's no restocking fee, etc. Some of the info is outdated on his webpage...my info about the 690 deal extending to all 10 people is accurate. If you place the order on his website you're CC won't get charged right away, he does all orders by hand. If you're interested I would just "buy" one from his site and then email him or give him a call and you can get all the details worked out from there.

The core he is going with is 29x9x3. I think the 29" width includes the end tanks, because it does not take up the whole grille, like the TXS one does. See pics. He is routing the piping different in order to reduce lag...2.25" hot side piping and 2.5" cold side. He said it should be good for 450 HP easy. Piping is being powdercoated black (today, I think), and will use black couplers.

I'm driving down to Ft Lauderdale tomorrow and getting mine installed...then on Saturday I'm headed to the dyno. I'll post up results as stuff happens!

Pix!

This is his 'original' test core...it's a tiny bit longer but only 7.5-8" tall. He isn't going to be using this one...I'm actually going to be getting this one because he still had it lying around and it was fine with me (for my power goals etc)

Here is the core that will be with the rest of the kits. Unless you really want the other one, you might be able to get that one, you'll just need to talk to them. both fit with the underbody tray.

Manifold clearance

Looks nice...though it doesn't seem like it will work with a manifold... (huh)

its got a ton of clearance, hector was told about the manifolds and made sure it came up and away from that area. should be a good .5" of clearance probably. I hear only good things about him so I assume he knows whats up

Whats with the cold side being larger than the hot side? It seems that the cooler air would require smaller piping, and passage ways usually will start large, and end small(er), such as a venturi.

This is just based off of common knowledge, and Im sure Hector has a reason for it. If anybody else knows, please talk, because I want to know, too.

Hot side is smaller to help build boost quicker. Cold side is bigger to get the air out quicker.

Yep the OEM intercooler is 2.25 in and like 2.75 or 3" out. Tons of big turbo setups are like this. My buddy took all the pics and is uploading/working with them now at his house. I only took 1 pic with my camera, lol

I was there with aaron last night when we went for a test drive. The initial pull wasnt very impressive but he noticed the difference. the second pull....... :-) ya'll need to wait for his ass to get out of bed! :-P

Pic for you! :) I think the black pipes with blue couplers turned out REALLY nice and looks great with my Cobb SRI. I also have cobb suspension so its kinda keeping the whole black and blue theme going with the car.

I have only tested it with AP Stage 2 + SF v101L. At WOT, AFRs are 12.5-11.9ish through the main ~4000-6000 rpm power band. I can't recall EXACTLY what it was at all rpms, but it was fine as far as I could tell and didn't change one bit after the FMIC install. Same with boost...doesn't spike any more or less and holds 17.6 psi and starts to fall in the upper rpms just like the map is supposed to do. I'm hoping the Stage 2 + SF + FMIC map will be even more aggressive with boost and other parameters and get even more out of it :).

As far as performance, I was holding off because I hadn't got to drive the car by myself yet. I was impressed driving home from Lauderdale (3.5 hour drive each way), but didn't really get to test it out that much, plus there was another person and some gear in the car. Anyway I couldn't wait, I went for a little test drive at 3:30 last night, lol. Wow, this thing really pulls now, no joke. This stage 2 map helped tame wheelspin in lower gears but it's back now :). I tried to do a 1/4 mile run on the AP, but I got too much wheelspin (TC on) and it canceled out of the mode. I'll try again and take it easier in first and second or something. 3rd and 4th just feel better and stronger overall. I watched boost temps throughout all of this and they never really flinched....heatsoak goodbye! It feels like power is held better in the higher rpm range. I won't say it pulls to redline in 4th, you can still feel it pull back above 6k. I would say it's definitely holding onto power up top better though. Hopefully the FMIC map will be a little more aggressive and not drop off boost so fast in the upper rpm range. I am headed to the dyno this Saturday so hopefully I can get some data to support this. I also hope the FMIC map comes out soon!! Maybe Christian can send me a beta version of it? eh, eh, eh?

Overall when I drove it by myself last night I was really 'wowed' by it. As far as long term goals, I think I just want to get an exhaust manifold a little later and get a custom tune with the AP and tune myself when the software comes out.

Ok there is my initial impressions so far. Post up any comments or questions you have!

Oh yeah I just wanna say Hector is a great guy, and it was great getting to meet and work with him. Wish his shop, wasn't so far away, but he is moving to Orlando pretty soon he says!

cant say i didnt warn you about the wheel spin. the ecu just needed to learn (uhm)

Glad youre happy.

Hector called me close to 11pm. i was like WTF!? he like, man i figured it out...six inch piece of silcone. right behind the head light (iagree)

Yeah I got a call at like 10ish...voicemail rather, "hey i figured it out...im gonna use silicone......gonna use a 6 inch piece of silicone". I had no idea what he was talking about, I thought he called the wrong person, lol. But then I saw him post soemthign about it on the forums, it all made sense then. I think mine will be alright without, the having that silicone would definitely make it easier to install
