what are the bene's to an exhaust cut out...? anyone.. any numbers.. i ask cuz im thinking about buying/ making one.. plus im thinking about attaching and acutator to a " lid/ cover" over the cut out section, so that at a flip of a switch i opens... instant noise instant power?!?

well, it was in his sig, so I'm guessing the +2.5mph was true.

yea tru.. im slow ... (encourage .... however.. the guy after him is what made me question... you guys think my accutuator idea is good.. its prety simplistic too... ?

A lot of people are using them now days. I'm not sure if there are a lot on this forum, but in general. It's good if you drag race a lot, but still want the stealth factor on the street.

they are using an actuator or they manulay open it? or what.. acutator question..

if they are already doing this ^ then is there a kit avail so i dont have to design my own,.,. or do i get to be the dam davinci

you could also hook it up to a vacuum line so that when you hit WOT the cut out opens. Although I'm not sure you wan't it open EVERY time you rip it, but it's a thought.

are you guys dicking me around here? or no cant tell if sarcasim.

I just thought that was funny I GAINED 2 1/2 MPH AND I WASN'T EVEN MOVING YET!!

A cut out would be nice, but I want to get a catless exhaust anyway, so I don't really see the point in it anymore.

There are a ton of places that make them, both manual (bolts or wing nuts), and electric actuated. I believe that some can be set to open automatically under certain conditions.

Yeah that company called apturbo or something makes those boost actuated cutouts. You just gave me an idea though. If you wanted to disable it for normal driving you could place a valve along the vacuum line, even route it into the cabin if you want, and only open the valve when you want it used. Or just get an electronic one. I heard one person say the eectric ones fail quite often, but I don't know how much truth there is to that.

im thinking more on the lines of...

mechanical door .. with electrict motor actuator plunger type deal... hit button, cut out opens... like on a hinge etc.. i have drawing ill post tom.

Or you could rig an elaborate lever and pully system so that you just have to pull on a rope hanging from the ceiling to open it up.

why did you have to be gay now?

i have an electric cutout on my car, picked it up for $130 at my local speed shop(s&k speed) with wires and button to activate it, brought it to my fabricator and dun deal

I have a ported s-pipe, 3" exhaust all the way back with no cat. I still picked up 2.5mph in the 1/4mile, thats some damn good gains if you ask me.
