Exhaust Cut-Off after DP

Is there a negative to this? I just did it today at school for fun and got a headache on the 1-hour drive back with my carpool buddy. It was fun and everything but I'm still going to have to change it back because it's drawing WAY too much attention. I'm loving the sound of the constant turbo spool, though.
 
I love the smell of NOx and CO, thanx for asking *end sarcasm.* Besides that, anything else that's bad? I was already breathing that stuff in small doses since I was running a catless straight-pipe anyhow.
 
I already took my testpipe off. What are the negatives of doing so? Like, my heat-shields won't stand up to the temp and everything will go up in a big ball of fire!?!?!? Like that and the like.
 
big ball of fire? possible if conditions are right. running catless DP with nothing after is fire in the making. someone on here already got hugely flamed over removing exhaust after the DP. i believe it was MSMS3 who gave valid points on why you should NOT do this.

i think to basically achieve a safe way of doing this and having that performace and sound is to just run straight piping as an exhaust with no resonators or mufflers. alot safer!

i cant retrieve the link to that particular thread right now because im mobile but if someone knows what im talking about and can find it please post for OP.
 
Why in hell would you want to do something like this? Stay in school, maybe an education will eventually rub off on you...haha. NO OFFENSE intended really, just couldn't resist but WTF are you thinking running your exhaust like this???? What's the point? (spin) (scratch) (flame2)

So...there's been arguing and the sort in that thread but his car never caught on fire for the time being that he's had the CBE off. Don't get me wrong, mine is also just a temporary deal. I plan on putting my catless testpipe back next week but I'm still gonna run my car as is until then. I could've just been jealous of my friend's S2000 with his straight-pipe header-back exhaust or my other friend's Mach1 for their destructive noise-making capabilities but I did what I did and I don't really regret it. Like I said, I'm going to change it back next week so stop flaming.
 
You don't have to be a prick about it. I wanna do it and unless I'm in your personal garage at idle, I don't see how I'm going to be affecting your well-being. I said I just wanted to see what it was like and I'm going to change it back next week. There is enough heat shield and no wires or anything else that can melt near the exhaust exit so I don't see why things would catch on fire. I live in the city and am careful not to drive on the right side lanes (those have the big, huge cracks in it) so I don't see how I'd be setting garbage/shrubs/tumbleweeds and the like ablaze.
 
the heat shield will become hot. if as said before the right condition occurs you might be in for an unwelcome suprise. maybe if you want to make sure its dumped downward. go buy a bad tip at like autozone or walmart and scrwew it on so the exhaust doesnt just go straight. that s**** gunna be crazy loud. lol. backfires like a mother too.
 
I did not intend to offend. My apologies. Sometimes the point does not get across when delivered delicately (earlier posts). Good luck with your experiment.

Heat from the turbo as it enters the DP is about 1300 degrees. It's probably still about 800 degrees maybe as high as 900 degrees at your dump point.

At least consider running a straight pipe to the back of the car to give it a chance to cool and so the flame will be behind your rear bumper rather than under your car. Just a thought.
 
Look you've opened yourself up for target practice here on this one. I don't think anyone is purposely trying to be rude, at least I'm not. Most of the responses are trying to help you out a bit. Also, the point you've made about not affecting anyone with your gross polluter your driving, well it does.
