Exhaust and other mod q's

I'm Matt and I'm also new! so I couldn't find anything on here about OBX Brand?

I'm in the process of getting

a Weapon-R Intake Manifold, Vibrant 4-2-1 Header and a cat-back exhaust,

There are so many exhaust systems out there, just curious about the difference between a single canister like DC Sports/HKS or the other systems offered by Vibrant, OBX etc...?

So quality of OBX which seem dirt cheap...and which exhaust is best, i don't care about emission laws etc...

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have a 2005 Mazda 3 2.0L with a Injen CAI

I have the Vib and it's a GREAT, if not expensive exhaust. 304 SS, high flow cat included and 3-bolt flanges (no blow-aparts.) Easy install.

I don't have one, but feel the Vib header is the best out there, especially for street driving and track days. For drag racing a 4-1 would probably be a better choice.
It concerns me though that you are not concerned about emissions?
I will tell you now that the Weapon R is a piece of crap. I looked at it too, back in the day, and gave up after some research. They are known to fall apart. Cheap connectors, and filters.
Plus, after installing and living w/the Mazdaspeed/AEM CAI, I feel that any CAI/SRI is a waste of $$$. No noticable gain can be felt.

I'm in the same boat, been searching like hell to find a good set up. From what I've read and talked to ppl about here's what I've decided to go with.
Injen CAI
Vibrant headers
Corksport Power series, Magnaflow Catback exhaust or HKS (in that order)

I've heard there are fitment issues with OBX, maybe someoen can verify that.

Also looking ot replace the #3 motor mount and trans mount with Hardrace mounts. not a fan of hydrolic mounts.

if your replacing two mounts with aftermarket, you might as well replace the other. I havent heard great things about the obx but it works for some, freaking loud though.

You might want to save your money on the intake mani.. The only real reason you would need to upgrade it is if you were going to turbo your car. If your not boosting the only thing it will really do is make the car louder. Plus, weapon r stuff tends to be cheap.. if you really want a new intak mani then go with the cosworth one (stronger and it not made out of sheet metal)

does anyone know if 5zigen makes headers?? i have ingen cai and 5zigen pro-racer zz exhaust (one of the best sounding exhausts i have found, not ricey like a honda or something cheap). if 5zigen doesnt what would be another good choice for my 06 mazda3?

I don't think they do.. but a vibrant hearder should be good... Thats what I am getting when I get some cash and it starts getting nicer for me to work on my baby.

Wow. The 5zigen exhaust sounds like a lot of the other exhausts out there; loud.
I think right now, CorkSport is what I'm aiming for.
