but I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction?

I just bought a new red 2003.5 P5 with AT. I'm not looking to race it or set any speed records, I just want a bit more power for changing lanes and merging onto the interstate.

* If possible Id like to avoid voiding the manufacturers warranty.

* Im an absolute newbie when it comes to auto-mechanics, I dont mind learning, but keep that in mind before suggesting installing a turbo.

On another note, did anyone else get the upgraded rims (polished alloys)? IMHO, they sure do look sharp.

Thanks in advance.

get an intake, it will help a little and is the easyest upgrade

and i do have the polished 03.5 wheels and i love em too :D

Q: Are these mods that a dealership would take issue with as far as my warranty goes?

Q: Is there a recommended order? Back to front? Front to back. This one before that one?

Q: What's the best place to purchase from? Cheapest place isn't a high priority...

Well I just helped someone install theirs. He had to take the radiator out of his car and then it still barely fit. It's pratically resting against the AC fan now. He will need to get some of the radiator brackets from HiBoost that move the radiator a little farther away just so he can keep this thing.

they shouldn't, they may claim they will but im sure someone will jump in here with the link saying it is legal

intake, exhaust, header (you prolly don't want a header)

online, depends on what you want

Are there books available that guide a newbie through various upgrades/mods? Something specific to the Protege5 would be nice.

Thanks for the awesome suggestions, but specific manufacturer parts would help me out.

I found the manual "2002 Protege Workshop Manual" online. Is that a good start? Is a printed copy available?

you can buy a copy of the manual from the dealer, but it costs a load of money, for installing things such as intakes just ask people or look in the HOW TO section, i don't acctually know if there is an intake how to, but im sure someone could step you through it as it is one of the easyest mods

also, i don't think the shop manual tells you how to do upgrade stuff, it just tells you where all the stock parts go, up to you to figure out the aftermarket stuff, which unfortunatly doesn't usually have the best instructions included, the more you do, the more you learn

its a good experiece and with things like intakes your not gonna **** to much stuff up if you mess up

good luck and welcome to the forum

Thanks for all the help guys.

I think I'll start out with the intake and go from there. It doesn't look like it's that huge of a project.

Is the INJEN RD COLD AIR INTAKE for 01-02 MAZDA PROTEGE 5 2.0L, MP3 intake the one I'll need for a 2003.5 AT P5?
