---> *EVERYTHING* ECU fix/comments/thoughts

I got mine flashed yesterday at Putnam Mazda in Burlingame,Ca. Very big improvement in torque and power and smoothness. Putnam Mazda is well known in Northern Calif for good service. I love driving it so much I haven't even thought of resetting the audio system.

I'm getting mine done at Putnam Mazda also. I was going to Menlo Mazda for a while because that's where i bought my car, but putnam seems like a better service shop. I'm picking mine up this afternoon. That's good to hear that there is a significant difference. I was a little worried because when I made the appointment, they said that they just received the flash and haven't used it yet.

I went in for my first of 2 free oil changes. The tech asked me if I ever felt hesitation between 3500 and 5000 RPM and i told him I hadn't even taken it above 4K yet. (I was waiting until after the first oil change). They reprogrammed the ECU and did the oil change in an hour and a half. I can't wait to try it out.

Getting flashed right now while I'm at work. Psyched I got a Daewoo for a loaner car. Oh well better than walking. Just got a flat tire yesterday too. $217 bucks but covered by road hazard

Just got back from the dealership with my freshly-flashed ECU! Man, this thing is sweet! It's a whole new car. The first thing that I noticed is that it is totally smooth through the whole powerband. I knew that it would make a difference, but wow! The driveability is totally worth not being able to boost as much. It feels like the power through the middle of the RPM range makes up for the couple of PSI anyway.

This is my first post, i've been lurking a long time.

I got flashed and i am not to sure about it. i still have a little hesisitation. It also seems that the engine is a little louder?!?

Excuse my ignorance, this is my first turbocharged car.:D

Is there anyone else here from the Detroit area?

Ha, ironically I was just thinking the EXACT same thing myself today! My engine seemed really loud at anything over 4k RPM and just didn't seem to pull all that hard either. It was cold, no heat soak. Mine also still hesitates after the flash, just not as bad as it used to. All in all I'm disappointed that Mazda couldn't do better than this.

dont know about you guys, but mine runs alot smoother altho it idles loud but so did my pro5 untill i switched to synthetic oil. my car pulls alot harder and the noise at higher rpm's is only whine coming from the turbo, altho if i quick shift at 4k rpm's i get alot of turbo lag due to it dropping rpm's down to like 3k where the turbo is just starting to spool.

I am using mobil1 in mine, and the noise isn't turbo whine. It just sounds louder.

I am also a little dissapointed in the fix.

Mobil1 is the only "mod" i've done, but i was thinking of using Bosch platium+4. I had them in my mustang and i really liked them. Will i get results in the MSP?

I got the flash, and feel that the engine is definately LOUDER now. The hesitation is gone though, it feels like the motor is making up for it now.
But honestly i'm not sure if its faster now or not, I wonder if anyone has stock ETA's and post Flash ETA's.

no eta's that i know of, but there are dyno sheets that show obvious increases in power which will of course result in a lower eta

I got my flash done last week and i love it!!! I noticed the difference right away. The power between 2-4k rpm's is amazing in second gear now. It feels like the turbo is kicking in at 2, but then i hit 4 and the turbo really kicks in and takes off again. Its great. Definitely has a lot more power!!! Much better for my driving. I dropped my car off at the dealer and left it there all day for them. Brought in some info from this forum actually and showed it to them.

Hey I am pretty new at this also. I just picked up mine on Friday, where did you go to get your car flashed. Also where in Troy do you live, I'm on Square Lake & Crooks

I am not all that impressed witht he reflash either. I still hit some definite flat spots pulling through second and third that are noticeable. I do think I have some more power in the middle RPMs especially second, but it might be all in my head. All I know is the tires break free in second gear way easier now than they used to. The cold weather is a big help too I think.

Uhhh, you'll excuse my ignorance, but when do you guys normally shift???

I drive my honda civic at redline damn near every day, just becasue that's the only place it has any power, but when I finally get my MSP some day, should I be taking it a bit easier? I know mazda doesn't make engines with the same design/quality of honda, but I'd think you could shift a little higher than 4k on a daily basis, no?

I wouldn't daily shift at 6k, but pulling 6k once or twice a day shouldn't kill it. You are putting more stress on the engine, but it's for a short period of time. Just change the oil more often! :D

I shift around 2.5-3k daily driving. if you want more power 4k is more than fine and you'll still get damn good mileage. (compared to my old car anyways! :D

Sorry way off topic, but servoeyes YOUR A FRONT RUNNER with that damn soxs banner... hahaha JK i hope they walk all over the yanks and finally get that monkey off their back and win it all, another out of nowhere thought, have you ever seen the Simpsons and Professor Frink the scientist guy... for some reason you remind of him.... Mwa-hey, bwa-hai. The compression and expansion of the longitudinal waves cause the erratic oscillation, you can see it there, of the neighbouring particles hahahaha thats so you
