Need to vent a little because my no one else seems to understand my obessesion with my P5.
Tuesday I got my Megan Catback, so my buddy and I went to his home after work and jacked the car up, got the old system off and then I realized that we needed one more gasket (duh) so we go to Autozone, no luck. Over to the Napa, no luck. We finally had to drive 20 minutes to another bigger napa where we finally got one. Got in his truck to head back and it starts drizzling. By the time we get back to his place it's a full on thunderstorm complete with lightning and everything. So I'm out there under the car trying to get the exhaust together, got it all together and it sounded awesome.
Thursday I go to lunch with a co-worker, I had to park next to a suburban. I parked as far away form the beast as I could and still be in my spot. Went in ate lunch. Came out to a nice ding on the passenger fender right where the body creases. That's only the second ding my car has besides rock chips on the front end. That evening I go to meet my mom for dinner, come out of mcdonalds (my son's addicted to mcnuggets) and notice that my muffler is to the left side of the rear bumper cut-out so I get down and look at it and notice that my bumper is a little melted and a chunk of my paint is stuck fast to the muffler tip. On the way home I stop at Autozone and get 2 new hangers. Get home and drop the muffler off the two factory hangers and push on it to get it to hang in the center of the cut-out. Replace the hangers and go for test drive, everything's cool!
Friday night I have to meet my ex-wife,my mother and my son at the hospital in the town that they all live in. My 4 year old son had brain tumor surgery and spent 2 months in ICU this past april so he has to go for urine tests and such occasionally. So we do that, he and I get in my car to head to my house. I notice on ce we get on the highway that the car just isn't feeling right. I get off the exit for my mom's house and pull into a gas station. Get out and my front left tire is flat. I go to her house and drop my son off (9pm at this point) I go back up to the gas station and try to put some air in the tire...I can hear it rushing out as fast as I'm putting it in there. so I rub my hand around the tire to see if I can feel the air. I almost cut my fingers on the steel belts sticking out of the tire where the sidewall and tread meet!
So I go back to mom's and swap the rear tire to the donut and put the good rear tire on the front.
So, today my son and I spent the morning at the tire shop getting 2 new tires. The old ones are Kumho's that the previous owner had put on. They were ordered from Tirerack on 9-7-04 so they're just barely a year old.
Phew, that felt good to get out. Theraputic almost. I'm just glad that the tire didn't totally fall apart and cause me to wreck with my son in the car.
Thanks for reading my vent...or not.
