ETS TMIC Hot/cold??

Ok so with my stocker after i parked the car the intercooler was cool to the touch throughout the entire core, with the ets the top (turbo side)is definately warm/hot and then transitions to almost dare i say cold at the bottom (cold-pipe side).

Is this a normal occurance?
Then I also noticed that after i parked the car and come back say 15-30minutes later and pop the hood the ets TMIC is really hot to the touch, were as the stocker was not really hot as was warm!!!

On the positive side, the butt dyno says that i have more initial power and throughout the power curve.

I would appreciate any feedback and personal experiences regarding the subject. I just want to make sure nothing is wrong.

Thanks for you help

All is well.... After 15 minutes is what they call heat soak... major heat soak..

ok i konw what heatsoke is and it is not that.
the new tmic is sometimes warmer than the stocker was and that the intercooler has a temperature gradient form hot to cold on the ets, when the stocker was the same temperature throughout the core, which was cool.

Im just trying to see if anybody else noticed this too, or if I did something wrong. im going to recheck to make sure the hot boost tube is really shoved on the hot outlet and clamps really tight

Hot to cold is normal... YOur stocker does the same... no ifs, ands, or buts about it... Turbo blows out hot air straight into the intercooler, hence the hot, then is cooled throughout, hence the cold on the other side....

i never tried touching the IC with the stock TMIC on...i always had the shroud on

as for the ets, i know mine is always hotter on the turbo side (firewall side) versus the cold pipe side....even after running on the freeway in super cold weather, the front is always cold and the back is always hot

thanks steve88,
there is a lot better thread on ******** for the same topic and the guys over there had some good answers!!!

Unless you spend lots of time in stop and go traffic, I wouldn't worry about heat soak. The TMIC gets plenty of air when you're moving and a FMIC is going to block both your A/C condenser and radiator from airflow that you'll need in the summer time.

What he said. I'm sure there is a small benefit to an FMIC on this car but dollars to donuts, and uprated TMIC is the way to go IMO. I've punctured an FMIC courtesy of road debris on another car. The TMIC stays safe and sound under the hood and keeps me from chasing boost leaks.

Judging by all the rock chips on my front bumper, a FMIC would look like s*** after awhile. Plus, I prefer a sleeper look.
