Why I'll never regret buying my 'Speed...
(warning... a bit long... [sorry!!!] LOL what can I say? hampser wheel's spinnin' mighty fast tonight!!)
First off, I love this car. Always have and always will! Sure, it's got its fair share of flaws... what car doesn't? Like many of you, I have been known to occasionally fall into the pit known as "buyer's remorse". It's understandable! Drive by a Subaru dealership and remind yourelf, like I, that for a mere $50 extra/month (or so) you could've had an AWD, lightning quick WRX. Remind yourself that you've easily put more money into your car with the various mods (CAI/MBC&Gauge/etc.) as well as essentials like snow tires and wheels... than your extra $50/month payments would have totaled up to thus far for a car that doesn't need any of those things! Remind yourself that you could've had this and you could've had that... and you'll likely go crazy!
I'm not sure how you, the reader, feel but I'd like to believe things in life happen for a reason. At the risk of getting too philosophical and spiritual, I'll just leave it at that.
While in college a couple years ago, I watched a ton of infomercials... "a ton" doesn't even do justice!! I was a freakin addict!! Everything from the god damn rotisserie oven to the juicer, get-rich-quick con artists like Don Lapre to more legit types like Carlton Sheets. The ladder had always interested me. I mean, buying and selling real estate for a living... making extra $$$ on the side... why the hell not??? obviously lots of people were doing it so why not me? Though I always wanted to order that package, droppin a couple hundred bucks... especially during a time in which I had little to no money, just wasn't feasible.
Fast forward a couple years... my ambition to invest in real estate (other than my house) had almost completely fizzled thanks in part to good ole corp america's zombifying-institutionalization. You know... give "Johnny" just enough money so that he's "satisfied" but not so much that he gets a big head and decides to truly make something of himself!! But I digress...
(this will all start to make sense in a few...)
Like the Carlton Sheets program, I've always been moderately interested in MP3 players... but not enough to actually spend a couple hundred (or more) on an IPOD or something along those lines. Since I'm not an "audiophile" as they say, I never even knew they made them for cars. Though I've bought a personal unit since I got the MSP, I seriously doubt I would have done this without the purchase of this ride. (which means, if I hadn't bought the MSP... I never would have got into MP3s) You see, I bought the MSP because I loved the styling and color and admired it's performance characteristics. The fact that it had an MP3 player was a (hidden) bonus. When the dealer handed me the keys to this car for the first time, in a way, he was handing me the keys to something far greater than any car.
Months went by... whether it was due to laziness or simply a lack of knowledge, I wasn't taking advantage of this MP3 player the way I am now. I finally decided to learn a thing or two... hooked myself up with Kazaa (lite) and started to "share" music with some of my (cough cough) closest friends. As cool as that was... there was something far cooler yet to be illegally downloaded... I mean shared! and that was the aforementioned Carlton Sheets program I was too damn cheap to buy back in the day... and had virtually forgotten all about it since! I'm not trying to promote this program... I'm sure there are tons of simlar ones out there. It's not a get rich quick scheme or anything like that. The bottom line is... after listening to the program to and from work everyday for a few months... (mind you, hour drive (if I'm lucky!) each way... that's a lot of listening!!) I picked up a bit of knowledge. Knowledge I could have got from books... but wouldn't have since I have a rare condition in which I instantly fall asleep the second I start reading anything other than Maxim. Knowledge that I've been applying on a part time basis... in hopes things would slowly start to happen... and build momentum.
I'm here to tell you that I feel the boulder has started to turn. My lawyer called me earlier tonight and gave me some truly good news. After looking at 50+ properties I had made some rather "low-ballish" bids on a select few. After the first 2 were rejected almost instantly I figured the 3rd would also be and that this would prove to be a learning experience... and that I may want to go back in with a counter offer. No need! For I will soon be the proud owner of a newly foreclosed property... a property I intend on fixing up and selling for a rather modest, yet decent to say the least profit. Again, not get rich quick... but a step in the right direction.
By now you're probably bored to tears so I'm going to wrap this up. All I know is, if I had bought that WRX (or virtually any other car out there) I might've been better equipped to beat "Johnny (rice boy) Rocket" off the line. But I wouldn't have been motivated to download MP3s... and I wouldn't have finally got my hands on a program I'd been interested in for a while. I don't want to get ahead of myself here. I mean, I'm not trying to be the next Donald Trump! In fact, I merely want a few rental properties on the side to help subsidize my current property as well as income level. If I can make that a reality, I can honestly say I'd owe it all to me buying the Speed. (as weird as that may sound)
Hey look... I hope I don't sound like I'm bragging or anything like that. While I AM excited, this really has nothing to do with that sort've thing and everything to do with how powerful fate can be. Maybe your Speed won't help you get rich... everyone's got a different set of goals. Maybe something equally astounding is in store for you.. But one thing's for sure:
sometimes in life, not acheiving your goal gives you your TRUE destiny.
If you made it this far... thanks for reading. In a way, this was therapuetic... but I hope you got something out of it as well.
