Enzo.. Fastest Car EVER!!!

The super car circus is amazing I have to say...!

Personally, I love the Enzo, it reminds me so much of the twin-keel front suspension design in some Formula 1 cars (though not used by Ferrari), specially in the center and lower portions of the nose... absolutely gorgeous F1 racing style!!!

But somebody is always pursuing the top of the top, and the VW group has already given the "go ahead" to the Bugatti Veyron EB16.4 project, which will have a W16 engine (that's 16 cylinders in a "W" pattern), 4 turbos, 4WD, 1,001BHP (although it's a slightly different spec than the American HP), double clutch configuration, electro-hydraulic paddle gear changes, and presumably a top speed around 260MPH....!!!

For me the look it's ugly though, but certainly over-the-top performance figures will likely increase...

Later,
Andrs.
:p

If I had a supercar or an exotic, I'd be too nervous to drive it anywhere....all that cash. But I guess when you're filthy rich it doesn't matter...

Interesting point, to be sure. Many of the wealthy that own these types of cars, are indeed, enthusiasts, and do drive them often on sunny days. Don Carnes; President of Tru-Green Chemlawn here in the Memphis area, often drives his '98 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster. You talk about a thing of beauty! When he's not driving that, he is either driving his C600 MB Coupe, or 600SL Roadster. Yeah! Their all 12 cylinders. The Lambo and SL600 are red. The coupe is black.

Nick Mason; drummer for Pink Floyd, drives all of his Ferraris, and he has quite a collection. He knows they were built to be driven, and says: if they are crashed, they can all be fixed!

with regards to the test times from both the tests that i read--C&D and ENZO (british magazine...amazing!), all the testing was supervised by ferrari, and performed on a less-than-adequate track. they could only do runs going one way, and the track was actually on a slight decline. also, there was an overhead bridge along the track that caused the GPS test equipment to loose contact, and thus totally fudge the results. both magazines stated that the times were close estimates, but in the world of supercars, tenths of a second count. C&D didn't even do their standard corrections for temperature, altitude, etc., because they figured it would only further fudge the results. i'm not saying it's not fast, or even that it's not the fastest production car, but there should be an asterisk beside those results.

sorry for being a dick.

The topic of driving these cars comes up alot with people and even the markers.

The concern with the F50 was that they didn't want it to become another F40 garage queen.
Though with the Enzo it is pretty much a bet that they will be garage queens or trailer queens. :(
Shame I buy cars to enjoy driving, not looking at in a garage.

only thing i could see is who lives in an area where the roads are actually good enough to *really* drive the cars? unless you live near a track that you could rent - you couldnt truly enjoy what they were made for.

an old neighbor of mine would rent the short track at sebring just for that purpose

i believe the only real issue with the design is that its doesnt look like a ferrari. when youve got such history making a radical design change is met with lots of opposition (like the porsche cyenne)

and naming it after enzo to boot is like a slap in the face to real enthusiasts.

i am not one of those people, but im one of the people who think its not very cool looking.

that is what i cant stand, people who spend 500,000 on a car and then keep it in a garage. these are supposed to be the ultimate driving machines, but people would rather keep them stored in a garage and drive them twice a year. its just ridiculous.

im not saying that ferraris or lamboraghinis should be daily drivers, but if its nice - put the mercedes in the garage and drive the ferrari.

in the reviews for this car the guy who owns the yellow Enzo has already gone through a set of $600 brake pads
Thats good glad least some owner will be using his Enzo for its purpose, enjoyment of driving. This has been a concern with Ferrari ever since the F40 where most just became garage queens. All that design and engineering just to sit in a garage or on display. Heck Ferrari would have probably sold them the body shell if that was all the owner was going to do. :)

dont be sorry cause ur not really right... the new C&D and R&T for July 2003 were not supervised by Ferrari they were done with private owners no Ferrari supervision at all.... the past reviews were with Ferrari suoervision

i can't say for R&T, but i thought C&D used the test results from the ferrari-supervised test runs in their July '03 article (even though they had a private owner's car for the article). i don't have the magazine with me right now, but i know they had a disclaimer at the end of the article....could be wrong though

about the Enzo's Brake Pads.......

$6,000 Carbon-Ceramic (according to Car & Driver 7/03)

......not to mention; the rotors are $24,000 per set. As indicated, Mr. Rapp (the owner of the yellow Enzo tested); with 1,200 miles on the odometer has already had to replace the pads, and a set of rotors!!!! Apparently; half of these 1,200 miles were done on the track.

Awwwww,,,,,too be that wealthy.

damn that looks good! and just as i'm writing this, i saw a bright orange (almost msp colour) murcealahgo (sp?) drive by on the back of a flatbed....oh to have money....[sigh]

WOW ! Yeah! The ENZO truly is phenomenal!

I was just looking at that link. Talk about a car that in one photo is so-so, or just ugly; then you see a series of photos (or even the July issue of Car & Driver), and get a complete other perspective. (thumb)

Don't think it was Enzo but rather Mclaren that said it, however it is still one of my fav quotes:

"If a car requires a spoiler then the engineers didn't do their job"

:D
Very nice.

Unfortunately you have to have a penis smaller than my thumbnail to own one...lol!

The Enzo is gorgeous, it is form follows function. It has to generate downforce, have a low center of gravity, cool those brakes, etc. It looks like that because it must. Form follows function is always sexy to me.

Interesting,,,,,,since the McLaren F1 Road Car does have an elevating spoiler. Hmmm. I'm not sure about who said that statement. Of course; Bruce McLaren's M8s had spoilers, and the one he died in (1970) was a bit larger than the spoilers on the earlier M8As. What happened there was the rear body work started lifting at about 170 MPH at Goodwood, England during a test session. He lost control, and struck a light pole, dying instantly.

Yep the F1 did have one though only deployed under heavy braking. Still not exactly a spoiler but close ;)
