Engine Swaps for the MazdaSPeed Protege

Hey i was just wonderin if there have been any engine swaps done to the 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege. Some swaps i was interested in were:

the 13B(rotary engine)
or any thing that has been performed...if you can get back to me as soon as possible that would be GREAT. PAYCE

I think the 13b is possible but very difficult, it would probably be like the awd conversion, you would need a higher ride height. Also probably a lot of fab work up front. (space frame?) It has been done with miatas, but these are already rwd.

maybe the six's v6, or a northstar v-8 would fit, if you gutted the entire drive train

K series engine swaps have been done. Daily Drivers

3 rotor 20B and FE engines have been done. Race Cars

i would love to see a 13b in a protege..its always been a dream to me. and it would def. fit in with plenty of room to spare. the rotary is a really small engine(1.3L). i own a 90 rx7 and honestly my protege's motor is larger. i honestly dont think it would be as difficult as we think. it would have to be converted to rear wheel drive. all you'd really have to do is customize the motor mounts and a fc rear end into the protege and buy a cuztomized driveshaft. ive seen places online that make custom driveshafts for your measurements. get a bigger fuel pump, then get haltech to power the motor. and theres different 13b's out there. 13b, 13b re, and 13b rew. a 1991 turbo 2 fc pushes 200hp stock, 13b re twin turbo(found in the eunos cosmo) pushes 230hp stock, and the 13b rew twin turbo(found in the 93-95 FD's) pushes 255hp stock. not to mention all the potential these motors have. the only prob. is you'll neva pass emisson's, and the motor is very unreliable. i would RELLY love to see a 20b in a msp. 3 rotor twin turbo, 300hp stock. WOOT WOOT. if i win the lottery, imma do this swap.

it would be nice to see, but i doubt we ever will, just remember anything is possible, with $$$$$

the only prob. wit the 3 rotor is that its alot bigger. you'd prolly have a real hard time fittin that thing in a msp.

it would have to be totally custom , from the subframe and you would have to rework the suspension, honestly, it would be easier to do a subby motor swap or an evo motor because A. there is a rear diff for the protege already, get it from corksport, B. to have a rwd only protege would require you to cut the firewall and make a bigger tunnel for the trany(still have to do that for a subby swap, But not an evo motor swap)..
it call comes down, just through a klze v6 and a good lsd , same results..

ohh ok i see but yah i was just tryin to keep it mazda thats why but thanks for some ideas if u hear about nething else than just hit me up, but that subby and evo swap doesn't sound to bad....hah i wanted to see a MSP drifting too thats one of the reasons for the swap cuz me and my bro drift BMWs

its probably going to sit a lot higher, look at pics of the Japanese only awd one for referance

I'm new to the whole "froum thing" so if I look like an idiot I'm sorry....

Has anyone heard of a 4g63 bein put in a protege?
And are there any actual swap kits for any othe motors that would help make the process easier?

But Would The 4G63 engine Fit In the Mazdaspeed Protege??Cause I Wouldn't Mind Doing That Swap.. If It Is Possible

engine size wise, yes its possible to fit. as long as its an obd2 motor (dreaded 7 bolt) you shouldn't have a problem. making a wiring harness for that would be real fun...but it'd definitely have a lot more power, alot easier, than an msp will ever get.

I know someone here has a V6 Protege. And I'am half-way done on my MSP to Evo conversion...all I need is the drivetrain/engine.
