engine swap/rebuild

I read your post and then looked at the workshop manual. Do I need to remove the ABS sensor? In the manual, it says I should use the special service tool to put it back on.

So this is what I need to do:

1. Drain transmission oil
2. remove the big nut on the hub
3. remove the tie rod
4. remove the ball joint
5. remove the bolts on the engine hold the driveshaft

So I just pretty much pry the ball joint out?

use a BFH and hit it on the side towards teh bottom and make it pop out.

What's a BFH? I tried using a hammer but the bolt, just bent so I'm probably gonna have to replace it.

Also, how many bolts total are there connected the engine to the transmission? 4 big ones and 2 smaller ones?

You never ever ever hit a bolt with a hammer. A BFH is a big ******* hammer. You need to just hit and hit around the bolt until it pops out.

I took them both out together so I can not help you. Just make sure you have all of the bolts loose and try jacking up on the engine and see if it will slide out.

shiet... ok do i use the BFH to hit the driveshaft out of the hub? I followed the method of the workshop manual and it ain't dong crap

no don't hit the splines of the driveshaft. Just keep hitting where the ball joint is and it shall pop out. Don't forget to get your balls out of your girlfriends purse. Other wise hit it like it has hurt you.

The ball joint isn't connected to the hub anymore, will hitting the ball joint do anything?

why are you disconnecting the ball joints? you don't have to disconnect the ball joints.

edit: well to put the axles back in the tranny you need to so never mind...

get a ball joint puller, makes it sooooooo much easier. its just a wedge fork thing
