Engine mount question!

Heard some of you have only upgraded the front one because they say its enough! It seems that it also doesnt transmit too much vibration in the cabin! So does it make a difference? Any of you has that setup?

thanks

I just replaced my front motor mount 5 minutes ago. I went with the softer AWR mount, but I don't remember what the rating is. I definitely notice a difference between stock and the AWR when starting and stopping the engine. I'll let you know how the car feels after a few days of use/abuse.

I highly recommend replacing the front with the AWR unit. I don't think the stiffness matters too much on the front one, but I'd go with the 70.
When you feel like changing the rear (and you should), I'd go with a filled stock mount to minimize vibration transfer through the firewall.

i only have the front one done...and it vibrates like a hoe on crack

the cars seems rough...but i like it....it is more responsive tho

It is a bit rougher than stock. It's definitely apparant when starting, stopping, and at idle.

If you are interested, I am selling a stock motor mount that I filled with 3M Windo-Weld, which is polyurethane. Stiffness would be inbetween stock and AWR mount.

Weird. I noticed basically no difference with just the front upgraded, and hella vibration with the rear until I went with a filled rear mount.

I have an 88 front and 95 rear and passenger insert from AWR and I don't get a lot of vibration. It has a slight vibration but nothing as bad as what ppl make it out to be. There is less vibration than one of those massage chairs.

I wish I had been that lucky. With AWR 70's front and rear, my dash shook so hard with the A/C on that you could see it bounce up and down.

I just bought some RR-Racing insert mounts! I did want to reduce the wheel hop, but didnt want too much vibration inside the cabin so I think its a good compromise.

Anybody has comments on those?

thanks

I have the inserts and they are great. noticeable difference but not bad unless a/c on at idle. more importantly NO wheel hop

If you are going to do the front you might as well do the side inserts too. That will help stop the wheel hop. I love mine. And I can take off now and not get any hop out of it.

on the subject of engine mounts, the awr uses a bolt with a square end and a threaded end with a bolt. What does the stock unit use I have to put mine back in and cant find the stock bolt, can i use any bolt? I dont see anything that would stop it from rotating, is that ok with the stock one?

I had just the front for a while and liked it. The problem I was having was that the hiboost upper pipe would hit the brake cylinder thing. I tried adjusting the pipe all different ways, with no success. The ride, vibrations, with just the front was good. So, then I decided to put the rear one on. Let me tell you... with AC on, you will not like driving the thing. It eliminated the pipe thing though. Car is wicked responsive. But, for me, it is way too much vibration and too much noise in the cockpit.

Between the damn bfg kdw2's and the mounts, it is loud as a mofo!!! I'm about to get the Goodyear D3's... hopefully it will quiet the ride some.

The feeling the car gives is incredible. I love how it feels. A/C isnt that bad because I only feel it at a red light, and that is not that often. I do a lot of highway.

so ya anyone with a stock motor mount can you just use any bolt or does it need to not be able to stay in place and not rotate like the AWR design? cant find my s*** help a guy out going back to stock mount already sold the awr lol

RR-Racing incerts will give noticeable vibes in the cabin (Especialy at start up) But it fades away after about 2 months (Well 2 months of burn outs and racing) to where I dont notice it at all, unless I have a couple of Fast Food joint drinks in the cup holders, then you hear the ice rattle. HOWEVER, I have no A/C. THere is no diff with the defroster, headlights & heater on though.

Im getting the side incerts from AWR to complete the set.

Ohh and that nasty banging sound you hear when you experience wheel hop, is the sound of your rear motor mount center bolt smashing into the outer wall of the mount (The stock rubber doesnt do s***), this usually distroys it given enough time and "Spirited" driving.

Best thing is no wheel hop & no Engine jerking arround and smashing the rear motor mount to s***....

I'm not getting your question. Are you asking if any bolt will work with the stock mount? If so I would have to say yes. I don't remember using new ones.

When you had just the front, was it a complete mount upgrade or just an insert?
