Engine light? FPR noise?

And if memory serves that was barely at all and with 91 octane on top of the world?

STrange that all these people ping at sea level even with beter octane, although I have been ok thus far with 93 octane.

It got to be around 20 degrees last night and I definitly felt more power from the turbo with the CAI setup I have, it was damn fun.

Me either! No ping.

The highest I've seen around here is 94 and I have to drive 30 miles to get to the station. All the other stations carry 93 though.

No AUDIBLE ping. Just because you can't hear it doesn't mean it isn't pinging.

Thanks for the confidence booster.

No, probably just a bit of erosion of your pistons. If it's pinging hard enough to break rods, you should hear it. Maybe not over that massive MP3 stereo at full volume.

Basically, the way to avoid ping is to have enough fuel and not too much timing.

If I have to drive this car forever without a stereo, I'm ebaying the turbo. If I have to choose the stereo wins, but I don't like it.

(sad2)

I don't think I said that exactly. But if you're trying to determine if the car is pinging, perhaps hit pause for a minute...

(rofl)

Never! The stereo can't be stopped without a fight!
(fight)

I don't know about any of you other BEGI owners but I've had the kit on for three weeks and I STILL choose to turn off the stereo 90% of the time just to hear the beautiful sound of the BOV... ;)

I don't have a BOV, seems like a waste but I still keep the radio off and windows up just about everytime I accelerate hard with boost to listen for ping. I avoid partial throttle acceleration with boost althogether.

I'm patiently awaiting my chance at turboing my car. Then, I will pipe the turbo noise to the stereo and listen to it at full volume.

BHAHAHAHA! great Idea!!!! god I wish that was possible!!!!

and 1st- THe BOV is anything but a waste. I probably speak for many other turbo owners when I say that other than the turbo making your car go faster-the next best aspect is the sound of the BOV.

There's just someting about it-so zen like.

Keith@FM - i've been a little out of the loop here, what parts is FM sending to us BEGI owners? what are they and what do they do? installation woes?

I haven't had any of the problems people are describing here. The engine has killed on me twice in the month I've had it on while sitting at idle or in neutral at a stop. Also not clear on what bolts/studs I should be checking out here - the ones on Corky's manifold and the engine block or ..... what huh?

It's late, humor me!

FM is sending out a voltage clamp to prevent the stock ECU from seeing the rich condition under boost. This will improve driveability. You should be getting yours today or tomorrow. Installation involves three wires and a vacuum line.

Check the bolts and studs that attach the manifold to the head, the turbo to the manifold and the downpipe to the turbo. As for the engine stalling - give us a call tomorrow on that.

Why is it a waste? You can pick up a makeshift one for a few bucks and at least it will protect against compressor surge...and make the coolest sound on earth

I thought we already established if its not more then 120db I won't hear it. :D

Seems like a waste to spend money on a noise maker when a perfectly good surge valve came with the kit. Not to mention the fact I am trying to hide the fact I have a turbo. Thats why I have the hidden boost guage.
(sssh)

I'm trying to hide the fact to.. That's why I have a pillar mounted carbon fiber boost/EGT gauge, a loud BOV, and an OVERBOOST.com license plate holder-not too mention the amazing sound the turbo makes when spooling.

hehe
