would it be good enough just to get better connecting rods and same compr. pistons just to safe guard the engine not really looking for real big power just 10psi and strickly bolt ons and some tuning?i dont really feel like spending a load of cash to get a built engine that can withstand x amounts of hp thanks

on a mazdaspeed protege?

welcome to the best forum ever, btw..

you have no need for rods if you are running a properly tuned 10psi. People that did not correctly setup their motor and then ran 10psi till it blew will tell you otherwise. Almost 100,000kms on 10+psi daily and i have no problems.

If you change your rods, you will more-than-likely have to change your pistons since most aftermarket rods require pistons that use a full-floating wrist pin.

ya dont even bother w/internals if ur not goin over 10psi....like jeff said lots of people have been runnin 10psi on the stock motor for quite some time

thanks for the info i dont drive to crazy just sometimes i want to get on her a little so 10psi ok sounds good to me.
