Engine Fell

safety margins are built in (like the redline) so that the engine doesn't get damaged under normal circumstances true, but the rev limiter isn't perfect. what happens if you're doing more than recreational driving and you somehow go from 5th to 2nd (when already at high rpms in 5th)....no rev limit in the world is gonna prevent your engine from exceeding it's safety parameters. and either way, redlining this car (stock) doesn't do very good since the power drops off well before it

If you shift from 5th to 2nd, you deserve your engine dropping or blowing up!!! How the hell, do you shift from 5th to 2nd...? The syncos won't even let you do that...? You have to be a complete dumb ass and should not be driving a MT...there are AT for people that can't drive. (lol2)

Any car in the world will blow up going from 5th to 2nd...

Have you ever road raced or autocrossed? You need to hit the rev limiter sometimes, it takes too much time to up shift before a corner...just to down shift as your coming out of the coner...you disrupt the balance of the car... Just FYI...

i don't really drag race the car. i have drag raced it 8 times and thats it i usually do rolls. and twice it happend when i was accelerating from a dead stop. the second time it fell was my fault.

You just admitted on a forum that Mazda monitors that you have drag raced your car 8 times. You have no option now but to take the money before they see this and you get nothing.

Thats a dumb hypothetical question...nothing will protect an engine from a miss shift like that...thats classified as reckless abuse.(screwy)

ok well iono how that came up but i did not downshift from 5th to 2nd. that would be pretty damn retarded. well i guess im going to take the money and just trade the speed 3 in for another car iono which one though. i was thinking nissan altima coupe 3.5

Though, I have no clue what a Altima Coupe goes for...

I don't blame you for writing off Mazda...its a great car company for regular cars; especially Miatas...but performance cars, I don't know; too much cutting corners.

has your engine fallen?? i think someone here said their engine fell or maybe it was on another forum. fact is this car was not abused at all compared to some stories i've read about engines falling and mazda still covered it even though the car was modded and they knew he auto crossed and such. and my car is stock and supposvly its abused??? thats retarded
 
So...assuming you're running an '08.5 GT then, wanna trade? My engine never fell out and my transmission bolts never broke. Although I'm running an '08.5 GT MZ3 hatch...so no turbo but nothings happened to her yet.

Oh hell no... I'm under my hood at least once a week just to check over things. I love this car, but hate it also, because I am always paranoid something is going to break...just waiting for the shoe to drop... (lol2)

If my engine fell, I'd say bye bye to the MS3 and call it quits...
I've almost has enough with this car...almost...still hanging in there...

I haven't had any failures per say other than my endlinks falling off and my shocks are totally wasted...just pure frustration trying to get the car to run right (cold weather cuts, KR, and boost cut).
I'm almost there though...

Find a reasonably acurate failure rate and decide for yourself if the odds are in your favor or not, or "just to be safe".

I've done a full season of autocross on my car (racing 3-4x a month), along with DD, and short weekend road trips. My motor/tranny mounts show no signs of wear, stress, or damage. (knocking on wood)
 
wow you guys don't really know about the history of the first year of this car. People were dropping motors ALL the time with the 07's. they did a recall shortly after the initial release. But now it's looking like that wasn't good enough, as this is the second one i've seen recently.

Give this guy a break, a mount should fail from some hard launches. the bolts are breaking and backing out. The first assumption from mazda was rapid acceleration and deceleration that would cause the bolt to loosen and back out, then they started BREAKING, not just backing out.

Hard launches may cause a mount to tear partialy, but not cause it to break or back out. This isn't this guys problem. Its funny people who purchased these cars recently didn't look into the history of the motor mount issue. This isn't something new guys,, and its not caused by drag racing a couple times
