Electrical Problems

Trying to get my old ride running again. It has been sitting in a garage for 2yrs as I have a dead alternator(belt disco'd), but I also just swapped the battery on my 02. The Alternator is loose but the bottom retaining bolt head snapped off(whole other story).
All leads in the hood are connected.

The NEW BATT POS lead is connected. But was not charged beyond the factory charge. When I connect the NEG lead:

The front and rear running lights come on and the high beam and left/right signal indicators remain lit.
The dash also lights up.
The Hazard switch is OFF
The Horn sounds continuously. I pulled the horn fuse to stop it.

If I turn the ignition to ON the front wipers (only) start running. I cannot control them. The vent blower powers on and I can turn up the fan.
The AC and rear defrost buttons do not work.
The radio will not come on.
The headlight light control does not work, but the rear wiper control starts and stops the rear wiper.
The washer fluid pump works and sprays.
I got the power windows to go up, had them down to keep it dry inside.
The door switches do not operate.
The key FOB does not work
I have an after-market remote starter installed but no security system. I toggled the kill switch in the hood ON and OFF, and the kill override toggle switch under the dash.
No change, same issues.

I have the shop manual(1400pg PDF) to reference.
So i'm guessing a short somewhere?

Help!

Look for signs of wiring damage by rats or other pests. Did the car have these problems
when it was parked? Is there any accident history? has any water leaked into the car
and remained around the wiring?

If none the above has happened to the car I would disconnect everything that has a problem
and see what happens. I would measure voltages at the plugs and if there is voltage when
it should not be there trace it back until I found the problem. You may have to do all
circuits but I suspect you will find 1 or 2 bit problems that when repaired will clear up
most of the problems.

You probably d have some wires shorted together but not to ground, if power is shorted to
ground you get smoke and things stop working.

If your PDF doesn't include wiring diagrams you are going to need them.
