The way I see it a conservative minority is a good thing for now, don't get me wrong I do not like the Tories as they are too far right wing for me, but with having a minority they won't have the leverage to make any crazy changes as many people have being fearing, hopefully all 3 parties can work together and compromise on issues.
As for the Liberal's the next 1-2yrs should give them some time to rearrange the party, get the old cocky farts that have been in power for too long out and get some new fresh faces and when the next election comes about they will be more ready to lead.

I'm curious to see how things go with the Conservatives in power. I know Canada was burned pretty bad when Mr. Baloney was in power - hence the huge hesitation in voting Conservative I think - but I do feel that the Liberals were in power far too long, without being kept in check (ie, scandals galore). If Harper can hold to his promises in his speech last night about working with all of Canada to make it better for everyone, I think it will be a very good thing.

And yes, I voted Conservative. Another thing I'm very glad of is that the Bloc ended up having fewer seats than the NDP - another indication that hopefully things are on the right track in Quebec.

I totally agree with both Revs and MyZmZm. Having the conservative at minority and the liberals out to chill for a while will be a good thing for Canada.

MyZmZm, NDP got 29 seats and Bloc got 51. Keep in mind 75 of the 308 seats come from Quebec and block got 51 of those 75.

All the running of the coutry will always happen from the east because thats where Ottawa is . I hope you do know that Harper is born and raised in Ontario and he is not a westerner. Furthermore yes actually they did get into power because of the scandals if it wasn't so then they wouldn't have kept repeating it every day till election day. I do agree that he ran a very good campaign but you cannot deny the fact that there is no way he would have gone as far as he did if the scandals did not surface. Keep in mind Harper was quitting 2 years ago after the 2004 election, but they had this dirt that they couldn't let go so he stayed.

Also if he did not win this election after being handed it over after on a silver platter he would have been fired (told to resign).

So true. I'm not Canadian, but have been to both eastern and western Canada......eastern Canada sucks - !! . The people and overall attitude in western Canada really left a good impression on me, so if politics have anything to do with the geography..i think it's good for Canada.

btw, anyone live near Canmore, Alberta ? -Spent a week on vacation up there it was beautiful. Great times.

If you ever go again, and you're in a Mazda, make sure you go to Mt. Norquay (it's between Canmore and Banff) - trust me, you'll be glad you did. The road up Norquay is switchbacks the whole way up! Just make sure you don't get stuck behind a minivan. lol

Thanx. Yeah i used to live in Missoula, Mt. and Banff/Canmore was only a 6-7 hour drive -so i went up there quite a few times. Unfortunately, i'm too far away now for a weekend trip (sad1) .

Gotta luv political arguments...sorry conversations.

Put it this way people, if there was no scandal we would not be where we are now, there would not have been an election this year as there would not have been a non-confidence vote, Martin would have done his term etc. Because of this scandal an election was forced and because many people were fed up with Liberal BS and just wanted a change the conservaties got in. So in a way Harper got in due to the scandal.
I'm not a Tory, but I am happy that there is a more Western leader in office now, I'm interested to see what happens.
