Ebay Turbo Kit

believe me...I have learned ALOT on the forums. I havent even been IN a turboed car before. Well, I was in a 86' TDI jetta, but it's wasn't spectacular or anything, tho it could go just about anywhere lol. I found a 76' Datsun 280Z that I wouldn't mind getting my paws on

what kinda car do u have op? if its a speed 3 u have a 2.3 liter

Lol, if it was a speed 3 i wouldn't be looking at turbo kits :P

It's a 3 GX 2.0L 5 speed only slightly modded as you can see in my sig at the top f this page. Keep in mind it's not even a year old

besides the turbo and the plastic looking wastegate, it looks like it could be OK, there is a video of a guy on youtube with a protege, he has a custom t3/t4 setup, (which is the same size turbo as in the link) and he got the turbo from ebay,
he was blowing so much smoke out of the exhaust it was crazy, the seals in the turbo were just leaking a s*** ton of oil, so if u got a new turbo from ATP or somewhere reputable then that kit would be alot better

yeah well, besides bad fittment, it's almost impossible to screw up steel clamps, silicone hoses and alunimum intercooler piping. Ebay intercoolers tend to hold up well to abuse, as long as you can get past the low charge row and fin/in count..

Maybe I should start SLOWLY piecing it together. In 5 years time, I might have a full kit and it wouldn't seem like i spent any money on it :P

lol...i know..i was only foolin' around. I see all these videos of turboed cars, and just really want something with boost. I had a 95 Nissan Maxima and that was the fastest thing I have ever been in I think lol...kinda sad.

Well my mom had a 240sx but I don't remember being in that.

Well like I said before, the supercharger kit is for 2010s are in the works. Or if you just want temporary power, why not just run a low shot of nitrous.

I've seen alot of stuff between the hondatech audizine and vortex forums but I can honestly say I've never heard of someone inquiring about a serious upgrade such as this when his intentions are still 4 years down the road. Good job op nice pointless thread you got here. I serisouly hope you're not looking at pos eBay kits in 4 years still btw.

Trolling, lol. You are one of those guys that thinks that is a good insult. Did you ever take a moment to wonder why on a forum this big no one jumped in and said "Oh yea I tried that it's _______", it's because it is pure garbage. Did you miss the guys post about turbo seals, blowing smoke, etc. Maybe try doing an internet search and see what it brings up.

A) You bought a 2.0L so obtaining massive amounts of power is never going to happen.
B) You have no idea about the topic to begin with, "gee what's a turbo manifold".
C) Your NFLD roads are garbage so even if you got a fast car with your "young newblet" attitude you are just going to hit a pot hole and lose control and wreck your car.

The benefit is you are trapped on that island so you can't run into me.

I don't believe that a 2.3 is going to be a super big difference than a 2.0.

NL has some of the nicest scenery in the world. I'm not some noob just cause I don't have very many posts on THIS forum. I'll admit, I am a noob when it comes to turbos, hence asking around about them

To be fair, I've seen more than a couple of crazy builds north of 500hp on the 2.0 MZR. That 0.3L doesn't mean much when you're running a big turbo at 20psi (or whatever those crazy puerto ricans are running). It's certainly no obstacle to making massive amounts of power, in fact I seem to recall reading that the shorter stroke of the 2.0 takes to big power builds better than the 2.3.

But, on topic... Those ebay turbo kits are for two types of people: a) People who have enough junkyard fab skills to get it cobbled together, but no money; or b) people who have the money to blow on a turbo kit but not enough common sense to do it right.

thanks...I completly agree.

Like I said, I wouldn't buy it, but rather curious if anyone else has. I'd want to research for another couple years i'd say to get a full understanding of how it all works together as a system. I can do 90% of my own mechanic work so I know I can install it, but getting the AFR's correct and tuning should clearly be left to the professionals

Well seeing how you have a 2010, and it's N/A, there is no 2.3 option. And the day that you increase the stroke of your car, you still won't be my hero but you will be slightly cooler. But I won't hold my breath.

*And for the record newb was in regards to turbos, not to the forums, who gives a rats ass. I've seen guys with 800 posts still asking about intakes.
