EASY replacements for stock speakers

Sean,
pop off the door panel. Remove the old speakers. Cut stock speaker wires at least 1" behind the stock plug (in case you need to attach the stockers again), hook up the new speaker, install new speaker, replace door panel, move to next door. This really is a supersimple install. Good way to learn if you've never installed before.

yeah, I haven't done it before at all, and it sounds easy enough. I attempted to do a rear deck install on my old grand am (that thankfully, I'm getting rid of when my 3 comes in june) and that turned out poorly. Thanks for the info!

WOO HOO! Get a dozen, sell them here for $95/ set, yours are practically free. I was very happy with the deal I found. If i remember correctly, everyone else had them for about $179+ per pair.

The speaker ARE 5x7/6x8 that was confirmed by proc. Just because the factory put round covers doesn't mean they are round. There was a ford a think that had rectagle grills, yet the speaker was 5x7. I was an installer for over a year and did a few Proteges.. it is right, and very easy..even for a guy new to upgrades to do

Thanks, but I wanted the EXACT size of the stock speakers, which are 6X9, confirmed on another post. Now that I know this I can install replacements with little if any cutting/fitting. Thanks anyway.

PS: TAXI!
