All,

I just heard there was an Earthquake in VA from Richmond to Alexandria at 4:00 pm....

Has anyone heard this as well? Apparently it's all over the news  :wtf:

hehe my girlfriend just called me and asked me if i felt it ,
my replie was "huh"... i didnt feel s*** in arlington

yea , i was thinking that
im ready to pack a bag fill up the tank load the gun and head to the hills !! now im hearing helicopters and stuff
i dont know too much about earthquakes, but ive lived in virginia for 10 years and that was the first i know of.

Been here, gone through it. So yes there was one, nothing really big....just like a mac truck going through your lawn....a little shake then another shake and then nothing. It really wasn't that bad.

Supposed by over hearing my neighbor at work it was a 4. something....don't mean s*** to me though...nothing flew of the desk so.....I don't consider it bad. Now if things started to fly....well I guess I would be gone outside or something.....cuz I am on a middle floor here...and so I'd be SOL if I stayed!

If Virginia is a rockin, don't come a knockin!

Yes there was a little erffquake. Friends I have that work in the Tysons area said they felt it. Nothing bad.

It was weird for me too! Especially since I was on the phone with my husband who is over 30 minutes away and he was experiencing it too! All I could think of was my 15 month old. As soon as it occurred, I told him to get her and get in the doorway! Yet my dumb ass was standing up in the middle of the freaking floor where all sorts of piping could hit me instead of under my desk for protection!!!

Hope this earthquake doesn't cause Tsunami's in my bathtub tonight. I'm gettin skeered :(

Well I didn't know if that was the begining, end, etc. I didn't know if it was going to get worse, so I thought for my kid. That is all I cared about. I wasn't scared for myself...just my kid. It just never occurred to me until afterwards that duh....if it had been bad my ass would be paper thin!

Oh, come on, you just wanted an excuse to go tearing up those mountain twisties...

Me, I didn't feel any of it...my Cali friends are laughing, since a 4.5 won't even wake them up...

Yeah, it was a 4.5 at 4pm. About 40 miles south of Richmond and 100 miles from DC. Most people in this area didn't notice it. My roommate says she felt it, but she's from SoCal and grew up w/ earthquakes. I didn't notice anything in DC.

Bah, earthquakes happen more often than you think... We'll usually get a "noticeable" quake once every year or two... The area where this quake occured is one of the most active in North America... I'm from California, so I don't know what all the fuss is about...

interesting...perhaps the tectonic plate is breaking down there

Oh yeah, I love it when everyone talks subduction! One lithospheric plate sliding under another. Makes me want to run my hands through the various strata of mother natures bosom and cause her to erupt with unhindered earthquaking orgasms.

I'm spent.

well, i was in richmond when it happened
it sounded like somebody was running down the hallway
(we have concrete buildings/dorms)
and the shaking was pretty noticable
yes, it was an earthquake
i was on the phone and i asked
"was that an earthquake"
and the reponse was
(the individual was in N.VA)
"shut up, nothing like that happens here"
and so, yeah
4.5 magnitude
i thought it was cool

well i was about 30 miles from the center or whatever and felt and heard it. It was a loud boom and then rumbling. I didnt know what it was but it was kinda cool.
