Dumb Question on Aftermarket Bulbs

Okay I am a newbie to some stuff, but are the aftermarket bulbs use up more juice than the factory ones? I wouldn't mind replacing, but with the dimming to the bass problem, it doesn't seem like a brighter bulb with more juice would work without dimming even worse. Would that be the case? Also, I like the bulbs like the BMW, Infinity, Lexus use, almost a flourescent rather than the light yellow light that factory lamps put out on a 3rd Gen Pro

Thanks

Research HID's a little, thats what the BMW, Infinity, Lexus's have, we just have regular automotive bulbs. Aftermarket bulbs that have more wattage wont solve your dimming problem and will possibly cause the headlight housing to burn if you use high wattage bulbs. If you really want brighter headlights get HID's before they become illegal to sell, it might actualy solve the dimming problem, I dont know.

Thanks. I don't want them to solve dimming problems, but like they way they look. I mentioned dimming only because I thought that with the higher juiced ones would dim more. I will look in to the HID's. Appreciate the help:D

mistert, what ever you end up doing, just be sure not to install a higher wattage bulb than the factory rating. higher wattage means higher draw (amps), which could lead to you overheating your wire harness and a melt down of switches etc.. big $$$ to fix(in some cases) i know from experience! later, joe.

I just installed my HID's last night, and let me tell you, a very worthwhile mod. Got them from http://www.liteswap.com

Instead of replacing $80+ PIAA bulbs that keep burning out due to higher wattage, I now have lighting that will probably outlast my car.

What is the model number that you got on the HIDs?

I bought the H4 Dual beam 4500K kit. 4500K is the brightest kit. Liteswap no longer has them is stock, so you will have to go to the Catz website, and find another vendor.
