You might remember me as the retard that bought a P5 and killed it a week later by driving it through a creek crossing and sucking cold WATER into where cold AIR is supposed to go. Well, insurance came through with a replacement motor and the shop helped me out by doing a bunch of other stuff on the insurance co's labor dime. It's actually turned out to be one of the most productive stupid thing I've ever done.
I got them to install a new timing belt/tensioner, belts, EGR valve, clutch, water pump and motor mount inserts while they were in there. I picked up the car a few days ago and it's running great. The only negative is that the motor mount inserts definitely transmit more vibration at idle, but it's not an issue at any higher RPM.
I also added a short shifter and urethane bushings last night and I'm digging the much more precise feel and more positive engagement feel. There is a rattle in third, but I think it's just the heat shield in the way. I'll check it out tonight.
I went out to the local autox the night I got the car back, just to watch. I'm thinking I need to give it a try, after all the motor has a 6 month warranty now... Looked like a lot of fun.
Anyway, thanks for the support and all the tips on how to upgrade and fix stuff.
