Driveshaft Clunk!!!!

Skid

So my car has the Turbine Tech rear diff mount and the upgraded bushings. I never had this problem up until a couple days ago. Everytime I start accelerating and shift aggressively I get a noticable clunk from the drivetrain. I also got it one time when I kicked the rear end out accelerating out of a turn. It does not happen under normal driving. It sounds like the driveshaft or differential has some play in it and is hitting something. I don't have anything to lift my car with but I was able to slide under the car a little bit (im a very small person) with a little flashlight to check out the differential mounts and all seemed fine. The differential was nice and stiff. I have no idea what it is. I don't want to take it to the dealer because it only happens when driving somewhat aggressive.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas?

Might be different, but in the suburu world it's perfectly normal to hear a clunk from the rear diff under aggressive driving. Happens when you let the clutch out real quick during heavy acceleration.

I am having the same problem accept for that i hear the noise also when i downshift a little bit quiker when i slow down. Told my dealer about it but they said it is normal and that what a "manual car would do". I know this BS because a manual car is not suppose to do that. I have had my speed6 for two years and never heard that noise under any driving condition until a couple of weeks ago. can any one here tell what is going on?????

Sounds like you have a loose rear engine mount "dogbone".

Me too!

Yes I have heard a rather harsh 'clunk' from my drivetrain twice when Im moving off in 1st gear but it only occurs when I don't give the car much throttle?

i had this issue too. did you guys install the tt rear bracket and bushings yourself? or did you have someone do it? i had a shop do it for me because i simply didnt have the time. the shop installed the bushings in the rear upper bracket. they pressed out the stock bushings instead of cutting them out and leaving the inner sleeve. i had 1/8 of an inch movement of the bushing inside the bracket. i had clunks on decel, shifting. everything, bottom line it cost $750 to go back to stock bushings. long story. check out ********** tristate if you want to read it.

i had the same issue about 6 months ago . on 1st gear you will hear a clunck i took the car home got under and one bolt of the two bolts on the right side of the diff was split in half and the other was halfway loose call the dealer they had the bolts in stock fix it my self the bolts were $3.50 each . to get the one that was split in half got some really god wysegripp pliers and was able to get it out . check your rear mounts
