Driver's side Front window tint, who has done it? It's illegal ya know? (Vote POLL)

My windows are tinted with the front doors at 35%. B pillar back is 5% limo and the hatchback window is 15%.

It depends on the state whether its illegal to tint the front and/or driver's side windows.

In NJ, no tint is allowed on the front windows or windshield by law. I had a Cherokee with 5% on every window, and an 8 inch strip along the top of the windshield. Couldn't see a damn thing in my mirrors at night. I eventually mounted Fog Lights inside facing out the rear window with custom little rubber housings I made to keep the reflection out. Was great for blinding tailgaters. Cops would say something about my tint once in a while, but luckily I was able to talk my way out of being handed a razor blade to remove it. I don't know about other states, but in NJ - some cops will give you the option of either removing your tint, or having your car towed.

That being said, my Protege has 35% tint. It's not so noticable as some peoples tint. Also, my cars color helps it blend in with traffic. I still put down both windows in the front whenever I get pulled over, or when I think a cop may be looking.

I would have gotten 50% tint, but my friend was hooking me up at his shop - and he was almost out of 50%. 50% looks very classy. It's a light tint, but really gives the car a nice look.

and 50% isnt classy...its what they cal, BARELY THERE. You can hardly tell the windows are tinted...I have 50% on my windshield to cuz down on glare and you cant even tell.

Got mine done the beginning of the year when I got my tax refund. It's 35% mirror tint all around. Would like to get a visor strip next. Looks pretty sharp on a silver p5 just wish it was more mirror like. I wanted to get the mirror fading into regular tint. I thought that would look nice but it's illegal here.

my tint is illegal but who cares, everyone has it, 35% all around, i don't like having diffrent shades of tint everywhere, it looks the same as not having tint at all on the front windows

Yea I went ahead and tinted my front windows, and hardly got any problems. I have 20% mirror in the front. And mirror tint period is illegal in the state of VA and legal limit % for the front is 55%. I've only experienced 1 problem with in a whole year of having it. I got 55$ fine for it, but I think the cop was just having a bad day and wanted to be a dick. But other than that I never had a problem, but I always roll my windows down when a cop is near by ... just in case.

same here, but there are sometimes when they catch you off guard.

Like this morning...i was pulling up to a small intersection to make a left turn, and you cant see down the road im turning onto until you're IN the intersection. When I stopped there, to wait for oncoming traffic to clear and make my left, there was a cop on the street I was turning on facing RIGHT at my door. and all my windows were down...Luckily he didnt care.

Later, on my way home...I have to pull a U-turn as Im stuck behind traffic at a red light going the wrong way. So I pull out, back up, pull out again to take off...When I finally pulled out I peeled out cuz the groud was wet, then i ht a dry spot and screeched the tires...Just then my friend in the passenger seat is like...dude theres a cop...as I roll by him, not looking. (nervous)

Man that sucks, I thought we had it bad here in Hawaii. I have 15% on all windows and 50% on the windshield. Back in the day we used to run double 5% on all of the windows, now days that would be asking for tickets
