You seem to be in Britain as the steering wheel is on right. Also, how did this happen? Is the car under warranty. Do you have a very heavy person riding in your car as well as you? I have never heard of something like that! When I saw the video I was not sure if I should laugh or cry.

I am about 12 st 5 lbs (about 173lbs). Wife is the only other driver and she is a lot lighter than me. It was partially collapsed when I bought it used (it's about 2.5 years old, 25k miles) but in almost 3 weeks of ownership it has completely gone.

Car is under warranty, dealer took a photo but Mazda came back and said it is wear and tear. I have raised a formal complaint with them. Worth a try.

Next step is to take the seat apart and try and repair it.

looks like the padding got pushed out?

Be careful taking the seat out - if it's like a US car - the airbag is in the seat. You don't want it going off in your face :-(

Nah, it's not pushed out, it's just disintegrated, it's completely flat with the main part of the cushion.

I have a copy of the official Mazda shop manual, that shows the procedure (disconnect battery etc) so hopefully I will have a face left by the time I am done.

I am waiting for Mazda to get back to me about the complaint I have raised, so I will wait until then.

My 08 GT has done the same thing, though not as severely.
