Mazdaspeed6
hey everyone,

so i'm sitting here at work, going over all the threads and new posts. and every now and again i come across a post stating that the mazdaspeed6 cannot drift...well i'm just wondering how many other ppl feel that way ??

cuz i sure don't believe that LOL.
i'm not really here to argue about it (bicker) , cuz i already know that it can drift very well, i'm more just looking for your opinions.

can you drift your MS6? like AWD burnouts, completely sideways, counter-steering and the whole deal.

p.s. video soon (cool)

Good Luck. Cant wait to see video.

No no no no no no no.

Almost forgot. . . . no.

Can you drift a FWD car? Sure, its called an uncontrolled slide.

You can drift the MS6. I did involuntarily about 3-4 times trying to hit a curve very quick on a yellow light.

this is how bad ideas get started...

haha..no no no..this is a great idea (rockon)

and luck i don't really need, except to keep away from curbs and guard rails (boom04) lol so i'll take it.

i nailed 1st and 2nd around a tight coner and had the back sliding out with the tires spinning it was pretty sick

IMHO - drifting with AWD can be done, but it's not the same as a RWD drift. You need to bias more power to the rear or the front is going to keep pulling to the outside of the turn.

I feel bad for your center diff if you are seriously planning on doing this.

well..a fast entry speed, and maybe a feint maneouver to get the drift going. practice in a big empty lot w/o light posts, not in a curve. You'll find yourself understeering at first.

be ready to purchase new differential and clutch

maybe its the way he phrased it, I'm sure he wouldn't have gotten the same responce if he said "power slide"

and sadly I've been in a msp6 sliding around a corner. it can be done. and you will sh!t your pants (more soo if your NOT driving, IE me).

why my center diff? that seems to be the least of my worries. rear diff is the weak zone...if i plan on doing this? ya its not so much a plan, as already been happening (sssh)

mostly i'm kinda taking it easy on my car right now though, and hoping i can buy an aftermarket rear diff mount real soon (since mazda wont recall theirs) then you'll have your 'powerslide' movie. but since i don't want to break anything, drifting has been somewhat conservative since i got my car back. but get me a mount, and i don't see it being all that bad for the car.

also..i think its funny that on a forum full of 5k+ launches, oversized turbo's, and members that are constantly whining for their next mod to come out or for funding for HP increases, that you all think this is terrible on the car.

i hate to tell you this but i think a strong launch can do more damage to your clutch and diff, than a controlled slide. oh and for the record, since it was stated earlier in the thread, a fast entry speed is not required.

You won't hurt your center diff. . . . . . cause you don't have one.

Also if you jack the wheel all the way one direction the majority of your rear bias is cut off and you go 95% FWD. Good luck getting the car to straighten back out of you just overloaded the front wheels while your rear ones are not even powered anymore.
