Dp

just installed my cs dp yesterday and i can say it wasnt nearly as much of a pain in the ass as i was ready for. the only reason it takes a little while is because thats just how long it takes to get it all apart and back together. i only ran into 1 problem im fixing this week where i put in a custom exhaust with no flanges so i couldnt get the damn thing out of the way to make room for the dp. doh! other than that which was my fault it was an easy install for the moderately mechanically inclined. of course i have a plethora of tools and a lift so it made my life quite a bit easier.

also does anybody know where i can sell my stock dp. i know these cats are full of platinum and some places buy this s***. ebay maybe? figured someone might know a place off hand besides.

Did you use one of the 'how tos' or what?

i used the info corksport gave me and the knowledge i had from previous turbo jobs on friends cars. this is actually my first turbo car so im not to familiar besides little info from before and the s*** ive gained over the past year. like i said...i gotta add a flange behind the dp to be able to remove a section. so if anyone puts in a custom exhaust.....make sure your guy adds a flange to section it out even if it does cost a few extra or youll be bringing it back like me. oh well...mistakes happen. i actually think i gave is a few 3 inch flanges to weld in for me but i just think he didnt really remember. it was a cheap job and he sorta did me a favor on the price so i cant complain. like i said tho....the install was easy if you have the right stuff and a little knowledge. as ive read 1000 times on here from people who have the dp....wow. def worth your time and money for sure.

Yep, the motor really responds to the downpipe imo, glad it went well. Seems like some members are concerned with the difficulty because some people with less experience, me for one, struggled with it. Even so as you mentioned, worth the effort for sure!

The only snag I really ran into was the o2 sensor. I forced it out, jacked up the treads, and then got the o2 sensor socket stuck on the o2 sensor. I had to die grind off the top part of the socket, then use 2 prybars to get the remainder of the socket off. Then I used a file to somewhat correct the thread, and it was salvaged. Barely.

That was a relief.

double penetration?

ANYWAY, glad the install went well. i am one of those people who are apprehensive about getting a dp for the reason of install being difficult, among emissions problems.

op - do you also have the rp?

omg just got done with dp install. What a pain in the ass, i never want to do that again... It sucked major, but now it is in and i must say i like it so far. Besides the smoke poring out of the hood do to my over use of pb blaster...

i had the pb blaster smoke too. lol. geez...the only problem i ran into was the fact i had an aftermarket exhaust which was 1 piece so i didnt have any room to take out the dp. i just cut the front hangers as a temp fix to get it out and everything ran smooth as can be. sorry for all of you who had problems. im glad mine went well then. it takes a while none the less but if you plan on it taking most of the afternoon than your already half way there. lol.

The only smoke you will get is from the rich fuel. I still have no oil smoke or loss with a full exhaust. For many miles now. if your turbo seals are shot they are shot for another reason.
