I was jsut wondering how the install went with those who installed their DP? what problems you came across, how long it took you? Also what are the positives and negatives for the DP if there are any? Im building up a list of thigns I want to get for my car soo yeah any input would be greatly appreciated

thats what i wanna know, but one thing for sure, it will be alot easier if u put on the lift.++++power gained , ----smoking turbo.

I think there is a sticky here about the install. If not there are such stickies on other (unnamed here) forums.

You have to work both inside the engine compartment and under the car. A lift is helpful, but you need to do the top part with the vehicle on the ground. The intercooler has to be removed and 02 sensors removed. Access to some of the studs on the turbo exhaust are from above and some from below.

You need the right sockets, extensions and wigglers help a lot. Take your time. Use lots of a good solvent like PB blaster on those nuts and studs. You do not want to break or strip a stud or bolt. The 02 sensors can also be hard to get out if you have a few miles on the car.

I have to be honest. I'm experienced with mods and with use of tools. I read the various threads and all the cussing about those turbo exhaust studs. I finally decided to outsource the DP work to a custom performance exhaust shop we do business with and was allowed to watch the work up close.

It took two experienced guys who do a lot of work on high performance and race exhaust systems four hours to remove the old DP and two cats and install the 3 inch TurboXS catless DP/RP. Fit was perfect. Connected right up to the stock CBE with no leak. That was not the problem. It's just slow, careful, tedious work.

We tested it and it was loud and droned badly. I mean really loud and really bad drone at 2500 rpm. So I had them put a 3 inch straight through reso in the middle of the race pipe section. Fixed that problem. The reso is not necessary for those who do not have a problem with the noise. This is my daily driver.

It was worth the $200 I paid them for labor charges to do this part of my mods for me. There is a huge power gain from this mod, expecially in mid range and when under full boost above 60 mph. Huge. Just my opinion.

MSMS3 pretty much covered most of it, I too "had" the TurboXS stealthback DP/RP set up with stock CBE. I didn't find that it was too loud at all, only when under WOT did I feel it was "LOUD." It is a PITA getting to all of the stud bolts. My 02 sensors came out OK but I've seen and heard others complain about removing them. Took about 3 hours initially with me plus 2 and a lift. When I went back to my stock DP/MP it took me over 4 hours. I was also getting boost cut at WOT on the freeway in 4th-5th gears. Which will lead you to more mods (and money) to get rid of this condition. I found it really annoying hitting boost cut, no fun. Seemed to happen more in cold weather for me. You will probably want to do a 02 sensor cheater fix if you don't want a CEL. Since the TurboXS already has an extended bung I opted to do the diode cheater fix and never saw a CEL for the 5 months I ran this set up. Looks like your in CA. too, so keep in mind your now going to have an illegal set up on your car. I know several people in my area, (Northern CA. S.F. bay area) who have been busted for illegal emissions modifications. Costs a lot of $$$ in fines and you have to put the car back to stock for a state referee inspection and smog check. The local Police and CHP are out in force now looking for us. They will and do enforce these laws and won't hesitate to pop your hood or look under your car if they suspect somethings modded. Not trying to dissuade you in your decision just a basic heads up... This is a mod that you will see some real good gains with especially if you've already opened up your air intake side (SRI, CAI, TIP...) Oh one more thing I had, since you wanted both sides (negative/positive.) I noticed the smell of fumes too, not having cats will do that. I only noticed it at idle and at stop lights but it's definitely there. Some are more bothered by this than others. I guess I'm a bit sensitive to it...
