i have the turboxs testpipe in the mail and once i get paid im planning on buyin the corksport downpipe. how bad is the smell going to be with both cats deleted? and does anyone know where i can find the downpipe install with pics? thanks guys

I bet if you search on here you might find pics. I found a bunch of tips on what to look out for on a downpipe install. Also be aware that a good deal of peopel who install a turbo back replacement end up realizing that their turbo smokes and the seals are bad. It's not proven to cause the seals to leak but if you bring it to a dealership they'll tell you to pound sand and put it back to stock before they look at it.

Just a heads up so you know some issues going on.

I would strongly recommend not "mixing and matching" different exhaust company components. They never seem to match up correctly. I may be wrong, but we've had two different MS3s with a few different exhaust components from different companies, no good. Maybe TurboXS worked on making their TP fit really well, but I would either get the Corksport RP and Corksport DP, or the TXS RP and TXS DP. Just personal opinion though.

You may want to search the DP install. I do not know of any, but if you get the Corksport DP, it comes with a pdf disc with very detailed instructions. Install is pretty simple for an experienced mechanic. For, a first timer or beginner, you may have a tough time. IE: breaking or snapping bolts.

Hope this helps.
Again, before the flaming, this is just my $.02

Oh and as far as your car's exhaust smelling without the cat, it isn't bad at all. Free flowing exhaust has a "nice" smell, leaks on the other hand suck and is too much.

Exhaust leaks FTL!

corksport sends u a cd with very detailed instructions. and if u install during their business hour u can call for help and they are very knowledgeable

I just installed a DP this past weekend... Its a very easy install; straight forward. It does take all day though, it took me 9 hours from start to finish; setup, cleaning up, etc... All you really need to make sure you have are mechanic gloves or you will end up gashing your hand to shreds, lots of extensions with wobbles, a couple of 14mm (medium depth and deep) sockets and wrenches. Oh, you will also need some penetrating spray oil for the manifold bolts and O2 sensor... And be extra careful with the O2 sensor when removing it...you will need an O2 socket... You have to apply penetrating oil to the O2 threads and loosen and tighten little by little. This is the biggest pain in the ass part of this job. You CAN NOT, absolutely NOT apply any force to the O2 sensor while loosening it. I followed the rules and slightly applied force and messed up the threads on it. Just loosen slightly, then tighten, just keep on working it until you get it off... If you mess up the threads, its a $400 replacement. DO NOT FORCE THE O2 even slightly... Everything else is cake... Make sure you also have a torque wrench.

Regarding the cats, I went with a catted DP because according to the vendors, a lot of owners have come back (4-5 months later) begging to weld in a high-flow cat due to the car's interior smelling like gas!!!

Good luck and take your time!!! (2thumbs)

I'm wondering about this smell If its smelling in the drivers seat something is leaking, if just a tailpipe odor i'll take better flow
