SOOOO.....Monday I am supposed to be getting the Metra double-din kit. Our shop's distributor is supposed to have it!! I am pretty excited!!!

In the car stereo world, DIN is a mounting and size standard for head units. The first example that comes immediately to mind is the late 80's/early 90's Ford Taurus (I used to own a 2nd Gen. SHO). The stock stereo was a single-DIN stereo with a little cubby hole right under it. When you replaced the head unit, you replaced it with a single-DIN stereo, or you could get rid of the little cubby and put in a double-DIN unit, which is twice as tall.

-Jay (Misses his SHO... A lot...)

ok..my unit has a cubby hole on top above the stereo ..i dont use it for nething because i have a flip out tv thats always open

that double din is sweet...but what happen to the Screen above it? the one that tells you the time, temp and fuel/trip computer?

I don't know about that. The one that came out of mine just told the time and what track/station I was listening too...

I'd believe that the HU would tell you the time...

Yea. Mines tell the track information, time, fuel/trip computer and temp. Now can you still install the double din with it in? or you just chose to remove it?

Hey you can detach the readout from the radio, it still works. The catch is only the outside temp and climate read out work. That's if you have auto climate control. I cut the braket off the top of the factory radio and bolted it to the aftermarket with some extra brackets.
