i want a double din touch screen radio, it doesnt have to have nav or anything too fancy, maybe just the option of hooking t.v.s up to it later on and playing dvds, any suggestions? my price ranges are 1-800

check out hookedontronics.com they have some good deals on alpine, kenwood and pioneer.

Ebay is always a good place. Just use it with caution make sure they have good pictures and are a reputable seller. For the most part you can buy stuff on there a little above the at cost price rather than being ***** by the electronic stores that mark the price way up.

Clarion MAX675VD!! im goin to be gettin this soon...you can play DVDs, DVD+R/RWs, DVD-R/RWs CDs, CD-R/RWs, MP3 and WMA discs, and CD Video. not to mention the 5.1 dolby digital surround sound, and optional nav. you can get em for around $630-$700.

The prices are lower on eBay for a reason: no warranty. I know at least with Alpine you gotta buy from an authorized reseller to have a warranty. For a few audio companies the only place you can buy online is Crutchfield because they don't authorize any online-only stores and crutchfield does their magazine orders.

screw the internet. come to hifi buys (tweeter) to get your s***. your gonna get torn a new one if you go and buy off the internet. we will match any real certified dealer on price

The Kenwood 7017 is one of the best double din screens for the proteges. since it comes with a double din cage for installation and a trim panel that fits perfect, your installation will take you less than 30 minutes. and you can still use the same wiring harness that the MSP uses. It might not be as fancy as the Pioneer AVIC units, but believe me you have to do a lot of custom brackets and trim panels just to install it.

ya i have the alpine IVA-W200 or something like that... it fits directly in with a mounting bracket and trim peice... i molded mine right in though to take away the trim piece and to make it look better but it fits perfect to start.... but it is also 1400 cdn so im not sure american but more than your price range

i found a few, what is the BEST brand out of these?

clarion
boss
jensen
jvc
dual

thanks

those are all under 600 bucks

Clarion is the only one I would choose out of those...but I am guessing it has fewer options than the others if they are all around $600. With Clarion, you are paying for quality and reliability. The unit should out-last your car (and your next car).

I have a single din unit from Jensen as a supplement to my actual stereo just to keep my girl entertained on long trips. It is basically a re-packaged version of an older Clarion screen but it works well. The buttons feel cheap and there aren't any cool screen savers or graphics or anything but it does work. The only thing to look out for with it is alternator whine. For whatever reason a lot of people with the Jensen's have had issues with this. I haven't myself but I barely use it so figured I'd let you know. If I were to choose of the ones listed above you're probably best off with the Clarion unit, the JVC may not be too bad but I tend to stay away from their car audio products since I never had good luck with them...

I have this one: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Q3Aqbm3BT5h/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=168550&I=257AVX706&search=JVC+dvd

However I got it off ebay for a huge savings.

One thing with this is that it doesn't come with any mounting hardware (cage). So, if you want to make it look great you're going to have to do some custom work. Funny thing is I called JVC and they said they don't even sell double-DIN cages.

Anyway, as for the unit itself I like it a lot, have it hooked up to an external monitor and all looks good.
