Door Alignment

Anyone here knows how to align the front door? My car was involved with a minor accident and the whole door panel was replaced, but the alignment was not returned to its original state, hence, there is some visible gap between the fender and the door panel. In view of this, I liked to re align the door but would like to know if there are some tricks to align it since it is a very heavy piece of metal.

hmmm, I would think that parts like doors, trunk and hood, align with no problems during the instalation. How hard was the impact during the accident? Maybe the frame is bent?

My friend has an Eclipse and his door would stick so what we did was untightened all the bolts put a jack between the wheel and the door (we had the fender off the car) and jacked it up a little pushing the door back and then we got another jack and jacked the door up and tightened all the bolts back. you have to jack it up higher then the latch because it drops down after you let the jack down. It worked perfect but you gotta find some foam or something to put between the door and the jack

My car had its fender and door panel replaced, but the problem I have now is there uneven gap between the door and fender. I noticed gap on the lower part is quite small and it becomes bigger as it goes to the higher end of the door.

As you said, I need to jack up the door, so this will just the upper level of the door, what about the sideways adjustment? How do I realign the door for a perfect alignment?

Thank you.

Go back to the shop you had the work done and tell them to get it right this time.
