Done deal!

:
Mazda CX5 Touring with PEP
I pulled the trigger on the last deal i had listed. Pick up in about a week or so. I got an extended trip to do this week, and when done, I'll pick it up. 2017 machine grey Touring with PEP.

..and that was? Hey congrats, and good taste too that's probably the exact car I'd buy as DD if I were thrust into the market right now- either that or GT same color no PP.

Congrats. What happens to the MX-5?

Well it is traded for $7500 towards the CX5. I have had some version of a Mazda 2 seat vehicle (RX7, then MX5A and then a C) since 1984 except for a 3 year stint from '88 to '91. I think it is time to step away from the 2 seat thing. I can't recall the last time I had the top down on it, that is part of the reason I am selling it. The CX5 has the moon roof so I will still be able to get some free air. Gotta admit, i might miss having it. That was what happened the last time I sold my '90 MX5. I lasted about 1/2 a year before I decided I needed a C version. That trade price of $7500 was what I was trying to sell it for out of my front yard! KBB is <$5K!

I never drove the MX5 in the winter, always stored it. I may do the same thing with the CX5, at least this winter. I'll drive my Xterra another winter and park the CX5. My logic was that I needed to sell the MX5 while it still had decent value, which is why I traded it now. I could have waited to spring and tried to sell out of my yard again, but then if my Xterra goes down this winter then I would not have a capable winter vehicle to drive to work. The CX5 is ready as my backup. Last 2 winters the Xterra has had a few problems that put it out of commission for about 4-5 days. Fortunately I was off work those days and did not need to go anywhere, but I could have used my MX5 in a pinch. It should be okay this year, I put quite a few new parts on it to keep it going.

The immediate plan is to personalize it and enjoy. Wheel swap and a few other personal likes, nothing more than say $1000 will get it done. Going with a set of Enkie PDC wheels from tire rack perhaps in the spring, that will be the major expense. I've looked at a lot of vehicles in the past 3 weeks on the road. Grey is the new black.

The deal was $27177 sell price, $7500 trade value, $1250 rebate, tax title fees brought me to $19783 OTD.

Great deal and congrats!

So...like 1/2 a year before you want an ND? [emoji14]

Interesting to read your daily driving and snowy weather reviews as compared to the Xterra. MPGs alone makes a big difference. I once had a CRX and don't miss the lowered to the ground stance....well my knees don't.

Congrats on the CX-5, you are going to love it! The bad news is that you are definitely going to miss the MX-5. When I drive my wife's CX-5, I open the moon roof when I'm driving it but it just doesn't compare to driving topless. Thankfully, I can get behind the wheel of the MX-5 later that day or the next. ;)

I'll take the under of 280 days before you have another two seater with topless option. hahahahahaha

I think that is what happens. Additionally, somewhere they slipped in an additional $250 off the sell price to start with.

I asked about how much interest I would be paying over the live of the loan, I think it is about $1400, so I probably did better doing bank finance than Mazda finance.
